REPLACEMENT (SC267Z)

 NOTICE
This bulletin has been revised to include additional information. New/revised sections of this
bulletin are indicated by a black bar in the margin area.

This bulletin provides information to replace the high-voltage battery pack assembly (HV BPA) on certain
2015-2019MY Soul EV (PS EV) vehicles produced from July 15, 2014 through September 28, 2018. After
completing SC267 with the latest battery management system (BMS) software upgrade, the subject vehicles
may subsequently require the replacement of the HV BPA due to MIL ON with a BPA related DTC(s). Follow
the procedure outlined in this publication to scan the vehicle for related DTC(s) and replace the HV BPA, if
applicable. Before conducting the procedure, verify that the vehicle is included in the list of affected VINs.

 NOTICE
There is no charge to the vehicle owner for this repair.
Repair status for a VIN is provided on KDealer+ (Service → Warranty Coverage → Warranty
Coverage Inquiry → Campaign Information). Not completed Recall / Service Action reports are
available on KDealer+ (Consumer Affairs → Not Completed Recall → Recall VIN → Select Report),
which includes a list of affected vehicles.

This publication is only applicable on a subject vehicle that has already had SC267 completed on a previous
visit which has the ‘latest’ BMS software. The subject vehicle must have one or more of the related DTC(s)
stored listed in this publication in order to claim the BPA replacement. Any other DTC stored must be
diagnosed by referring to KGIS and may not be claimed under this Subsequent Repair Campaign.

For 2015-2017MY ONLY new BPA is equipped with a “new” type harness. There is no need to swap
the removed BPA harness from a previous repair under SC267. TL PWA is required for HV BPA
replacement. Dealer should follow the process included in TSB ELE044 and obtain TL PWA. Claim
submission concerns WILL occur if the dealer does not obtain TL PWA for HV BPA replacement.

WARNING
Be sure to read and follow the ‘General Safety Information and Caution’, the ‘High Voltage ShutOff Procedures’ and ‘High Voltage Battery Handling Guide’ instructions outlined on KGIS before
doing any work related with the high voltage system. Failure to follow the safety instructions may
result in serious electrical injuries.

BPA Replacement Procedure:
1.

Replace the HV BPA by referring to “EV Battery
System → High Voltage Battery System →
Battery Pack Assembly → Repair procedures
(Removal)” in the applicable Shop Manual on
KGIS. Note: Dealer must obtain TL PWA.

Reinstall all removed parts in the reverse order
of removal.

Clear related DTC(s) using KDS.

If a BPA was replaced under (SC267) along with a Volt & Temperature Sensor Wire Harness (VTSWH),
the ‘new’ BPA WILL NOT require the previously installed VTSWH on the existing BPA to be
installed/swapped onto the ‘new’ BPA. *Note: You may receive a BPA with a part number ending in
“QQKR” when a part ending in “QQK” was ordered. Both part numbers are interchangeable and
acceptable in the warranty claim. Be sure to use the corresponding Op Code for the BPA PN received.
