The repair quality of covered vehicles is extremely important to Toyota. All dealership technicians
performing this recall are required to successfully complete the most current version of the E-Learning
course “Safety Recall and Service Campaign Essentials”. To ensure that all vehicles have the repair
performed correctly; technicians performing this recall repair are required to currently hold at least one
of the following certification levels:
• TIC206A – Electrical Repair 1

perform this recall repair. Carefully review your resources, the technician skill level, and ability before
assigning technicians to this repair. It is important to consider technician days off and vacation schedules

a) Compare the vehicles VIN to the VIN listed on the Repair Order to ensure they match.
b) Check the TIS Vehicle Inquiry System to confirm the VIN is involved in this Campaign, and that it has not
already been completed.
NOTICE:
TMNA warranty will not reimburse dealers for repairs completed on vehicles that are not affected or were
previously completed, even by another dealer.

VI. WORK PROCEDURE
CHECK IF THE FRONT BUMPER EXTENSION
MOUNTING BRACKET IS INSTALLED ON THE
LOWER GRILLE ASSEMBLY
a) Check the lower grille assembly to see if the front
bumper extension mounting bracket is installed.

Remove the front bumper extension
mounting bracket at the next step, and then
go to 5. FRONT BUMPER EXTENSION
MOUNTING BRACKET INSPECTION.

Go to 3. CHECK IF THE CUSTOMER HAS THE
FRONT BUMPER EXTENSION MOUNTING
BRACKET.

REMOVE THE FRONT BUMPER EXTENSION MOUNTING BRACKET
a) Remove the 2 self-tapping screws, front license plate and the front bumper extension mounting bracket from
the lower grill.
b) Go to 5. FRONT BUMPER EXTENSION MOUNTING BRACKET INSPECTION.

CHECK IF THE CUSTOMER HAS THE FRONT BUMPER EXTENSION MOUNTING BRACKET
a) Check if the customer has the front bumper extension mounting bracket.
HINT:
The bracket is typically located in the luggage compartment of the new vehicle.

Notice: If the state you are in does not require a front license plate, check with the customer before installing the
plate bracket onto the bumper. If they prefer, you can hand the customer the modified plate for safe keeping if they
prefer.

a) Order the NEW front bumper extension mounting bracket.
b) Go to 5. FRONT BUMPER EXTENSION MOUNTING BRACKET INSPECTION.

a) Using a pair of diagonal cutters, cut down the dowel
as much as possible.
Standard: The dowel is cut down to approx. 4 to
5mm (0.157 to 0.197 in.) from base of bracket
NOTICE：
DO NOT use a knife or razor blade.

b)

Using a pair of diagonal cutters, cut the 2 clips.
(Cut two pieces per clip.)
Standard: The clip is cut flush with the 3 ribbed
area

If the bracket does not fit flush with the grille, go back to step a).
