REMINDER:
The 4th Quarter Technican Quiz
for 2025 (TQ042025) will be
available October 1, 2025 December 31, 2025.

CONCERN:
A no start condition with DTCs B2204 (Coding data mismatch),
B222C (Coding incomplete), and U1197 (Coding data unavailable) or
other DTCs after battery discharge or replacement.
Before attempting to program keys or replace the ETACS, technicians
should try to variant code the ETACS. If the ETACS has been replaced
or the technician cannot generate a variant code with the new ETACS
part number, the technician should use the old part number. The
ETACS part number can be found on the face of the ETACS.
Instructions for coding is located on MDL: Service > service tech
resources > tech training. Videos regarding download coding and
coding can be found on the left side of the page. The coding file
must be available in the scan tool: Windows (C), MUTSW_SE,
MUT3_SE, CdgData folder.

REPAIR INFO: Introduction to End-Lock Phenomenon in Seatbelt
Systems
A customer reported that the seatbelt webbing was stuck and could not be extracted.
Following an inspection by the dealer, the seatbelt assembly was replaced. Further
investigation of the replaced parts revealed that the issue was the result of a
condition known as end-lock.
This article briefly introduces the end-lock condition to support quicker customer
response and help prevent unnecessary part replacements.
Affected Models
All vehicles equipped with seatbelts featuring an Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR)
What is End-Lock?
End-lock is a condition where the seatbelt webbing cannot be extracted from a fully
retracted position due to locking. This may occur when the seatbelt webbing retracts
forcefully to the stowed position. If end-lock occurs, please follow the steps above to
release it.
How to Release End-Lock
1. Firmly grasp the seatbelt buckle.
2. Pull the seatbelt webbing out with approximately 5-10 kgf force from the locked
position, then allow it to retract once.

3. If the seatbelt can be pulled out again, the end-lock has been released.
4. If not, repeat the process.

GENERAL INFO: How to Remove 12V Battery Terminals on Vehicles with
Auto ACCC
In vehicles that are equipped with the Auto ACC function, some ECUs may remain active
for a short time after the ignition is turned off, even if the 12V battery is depleted
(Ready-ON or engine start not possible).
If the battery terminals are disconnected before these ECUs have fully shut down, it may
result in DTC detection or ECU data corruption.
Therefore, it is essential to follow the workshop manual procedures to prevent ECU
damage. This article reminds you of the correct battery disconnection procedure.

All vehicles equipped with the Auto ACC function:
2022-2025 OUTLANDER (GM0W)
2023-2025 OUTLANDER PLUG-IN HYBRID (GN0W)
Work Procedure (Summary of the workshop manual):
OUTLANDER (GM0W)
1) Working procedure
Open the hood (until completed the procedure)
Turn ignition switch to the ON position
Turn ignition switch to the OFF position with the driver side door opened
Exit the vehicle and close the driver side door
Wait at least 3 minutes
Remove 12V battery terminal
CAUTION: After step

do not perform vehicle operations such as door lock or door open/close
while waiting, because automatic ACC function turns accessory power supply to ON.

OUTLANDER PLUG-IN HYBRID (GN0W)
1) Working procedure
Disconnect the charging connector
Change the power supply mode of the electric motor switch to OFF
Open both the hood and tailgate (until the procedure is completed)
Press the electric motor switch once to turn power supply mode to ON
Press and hold the electric motor switch again for at least five seconds
Close the driver door and wait for at least 5 minutes
Make sure combination meter is turned OFF and that the P indicator of the
parking brake switch is turned OFF
Remove 12V battery terminal
CAUTION: After step , do not perform vehicle operations such as door lock or
door open/close while waiting, because automatic ACC function turns
accessory power supply ON.
2) Special notes:
If 12V battery terminal is removed, the control timer which operates the engine
will be reset. If the engine does not start for prolonged period after the reset,
the fuel injection system may become clogged. To avoid this, press the battery
charging switch to start the engine.

PRECAUTIONS: Calibration Data Writing Procedure When Replacing TCM

M (GM0W)

For the OUTLANDER (GM0W), when the TCM (CVT-ECU) is replaced, it is essential to
save the calibration data from the original ECU and write it to the new ECU. If the
original ECU is damaged and the calibration data cannot be saved, the appropriate
calibration data for the vehicle must be obtained via DXA and written to the new ECU.
In this case, the existing work procedure does not include all the necessary steps for
completing the data writing process. To support successful execution, this article
outlines the full procedure. A revision of the service manual is currently under review.

MITSUBISHI MOTORS REPORTS Q3 2025 SALES
FRANKLIN, Tenn., Oct. 1, 2025 – Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) today reported third-quarter 2025
sales of 19,647, driving the brand’s year-to-date total sales to 73,400, the second-best year-to-date (YTD) performance
in four years.
The brand’s electrified flagship, Outlander Plug-in Hybrid, set a quarterly sales record of 2,403, up 5.4% year-over-year
(YOY). During the quarter, September alone represented the second-best month in the history of the nameplate,
building off a strong August that is now the third-best month ever. YTD sales of Outlander Plug-in Hybrid were also up,
totaling 5,841, an increase of 5.9% over 2024.
The recently redesigned Outlander, refreshed and updated with a
new interior and a North American industry-first Yamaha-branded
audio system, continued to be MMNA’s volume leader with 7,323
sales for the quarter. An all-new Trail Edition package also debuted
this quarter, showcasing the brand’s storied off-highway and
adventure history.
Other bright spots this quarter included Eclipse Cross with 4,077
sales for the quarter and 12,342 YTD, up 21.2% over last year, and
Outlander Sport with 3,080 quarterly sales and 14,958 YTD, an
increase of 27.8% over 2024.

2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Trail
Edition

Third quarter YOY sales performance was impacted primarily by the discontinuation of the Mirage and Mirage G4
models. Looking forward, Mitsubishi Motors’ core SUV lineup is forecasted to deliver YOY increases, with full-year 2025
SUV sales surpassing those of 2024. This strategic pivot begins today with the launch of MMNA’s Year-End Sales Event,
offering 0% APR financing for 60 months on all new 2025 Mitsubishi SUV models. Full program eligibility details are

MMNA made history in August as the Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) were conamed Green Car Journal's 2026 Family Green Car of the Year. This latest Green Car Journal award – the fourth
consecutive for Outlander Plug-in Hybrid – marks the first time in the award program's 21-year history that
sister models have claimed the prestigious overall title.

MMNA recently announced its first-ever dedicated off-highway styling and equipment package for the 2025
Outlander SUV, featuring Super All-wheel Control (S-AWC) and a host of program-specific trim and available
performance and convenience components. Personalization is at the heart of the Outlander Trail Edition, with a
host of dealer accessories available to customize each vehicle to the buyer’s personal taste.

The brand’s North American business plan, dubbed Momentum 2030, promising a new or significantly revised
vehicle every year between 2026 and 2030, continues strongly. MMNA announced that it will work with Alliance

partner Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. to bring a battery electric vehicle (BEV) to market in summer 2026, as well as open
a study into co-developing an all-new SUV that will be produced in the future in a U.S. Nissan facility.

Also part of Momentum 2030, MMNA announced its first Gallery dealership – a partnership between MMNA
and local retailer City Auto Mitsubishi - will open in the first quarter of 2026. The Gallery dealership model will
see similar facilities opened nationwide, all located in high-traffic, multi-use areas such as retail-heavy areas,
mixed-use commercial/retail areas and shopping malls, to bring Mitsubishi Motors to a new generation of car
buyers.
