Description: Certain Tucson (NX4, NX4A) and Tucson Hybrid (NX4 HEV) vehicles may exhibit an
improper fuel filler door opening or closing condition due to an inoperative fuel filler door release
actuator. This bulletin provides instructions to replace the fuel filler door release actuator.

Disconnect the negative (–) battery terminal.

Open the fuel filler door then remove the fuel
filler door panel (A).

Wrap the mounting arm for the fuel filler door
panel with a clean rag to prevent damage to
the vehicle.
4.
Spray a soap and water solution around the
edge of the fuel filler door housing to aid in
removal from the vehicle.

Remove the fuel cap.

Insert a plastic trim tool under the gasket
around the fuel filler door housing to begin
removal.
NOTICE
Avoid tearing the gasket.
7.
Use plastic trim tools to disengage the bottom
clips (B).

4 clips – 2 on top & 2 on bottom of the
fuel filler door housing.

Continue prying around fuel filler door housing
to release the remaining clips.

Disengage the top clips (C) with plastic trim
tools.

Gently pull out the fuel filler door housing and
disconnect the connector (D) from the fuel filler
door release actuator.

Use plastic trim tools to loosen the fuel filler
door housing from the fuel filler neck
assembly (E).

Remove 3 screws then remove the fuel filler
door release actuator (F).

Using the STUI camera function, take a
photo of the production stamp on the
original actuator.
Upload the photo to STUI.
NOTE: If the STUI camera function is
NOT used, write the last 6 digits of the
VIN and the date of repair on a piece of
paper to include in the photo.

Install the new fuel filler door release actuator
onto the housing.

Reconnect the connector.

Reinstall all parts in reverse order of removal
process.
18.
Reconnect the negative (–) battery terminal.
19.
Verify the fuel door is working properly.

The service procedure is now complete.
