There was an issue with raw material quality at the supplier.

Service

Try to reproduce the customer complaint (based on the description/cause of the issue), so that it can be clearly
assigned to this TSB. The following repair must only be carried out if all criteria (model/type, VIN number, engine
and transmission code, PR number(s), part number, software version, code etc.) apply exactly. Otherwise, this
service solution will not eliminate the problem and repeat repairs may be necessary. In such a case, we may reject
the warranty claim and re-debit the parts.

If a broken valve spring (inlet or exhaust side) is identified during diagnosis, check whether the piston and valve
head have made contact. If this is not the case, check whether the vehicle is from production period 1 or 2.

Please write in the description whether an inlet valve spring or an exhaust valve spring was broken.
When adjusting the engine’s valve gear drive, in addition to the Workshop Manual for EA825 in ELSA, we also
recommend you observe the information about a related engine version in the video STV_0467 “3.01 TFSI engine of
EA839 — setting the valve timing” in the Audi Knowledge Tank (AKT).
The adjustment values and tightening torque should be taken from the Workshop Manual for EA825 in ELSA as
usual.

When billing, please always attach photos that clearly show the complaint to DOC-IT. To ensure a reference to the
vehicle, the image/video must:
+ Include the VIN and date.
+ Must not be edited.
+ Should be in focus and taken with sufficient light. A high resolution is not necessary.
If appropriate, please mark the location of the problem so that parts analysis has a clear reference to the complaint.
Please ensure that the photo documentation does not show any people and/or face, license plates, or customer
data.
