Technical Background
The inner V of the EA825 V8 TFSI engine contains several sensors and actuators for the oil supply system, such as
the piston cool jet control valve N522, the oil heat exchanger and the oil filter module.

SSP 920493 (“The Audi 4.0L V8 TFSI engine from EA825 series”) contains more information on the oil supply
system of the EA825 V8 TFSI engine.
In the past, the location of the leak hast not always been identified clearly for complaints about oil leaks in the area
of the inner V of the engine. As a result, the oil exchanger and its gasket have often been replaced (along with other
components) when this was not justified.

Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
In the event of a complaint, first clean the affected area thoroughly and use leak detector. For better accessibility, it
may be necessary to remove individual peripheral components and then reinstall them.
Then perform a road test and locate the leak.
Oil leaks must clearly be identifiable and reproducible. The engine oil and coolant must have reached
operating temperature during a road test.
We therefore recommend proceeding as follows:
+ Thoroughly clean the affected area in the inner V of the engine.
+ Use search additive in accordance with TSB 2060750.
+ Perform road test.
+ Check the area in the inner V of the engine for leaks and locate the leak (e.g. with a borescope).
+ Replace the components causing the oil leak. If the seal on the engine block side of the oil filter module is the
cause of the oil leak, please perform TSB 2078578 as needed.
Create photo documentation of the identified location of the leak and upload documentation to DOC-IT. When billing,
please always attach photos that clearly show the complaint. To ensure a reference to the vehicle images/videos
must:
+ Include the VIN and date
+ Must not be edited
+ Should be in focus and taken with sufficient light. High resolution is not necessary.
Warranty
Select the service number of the component causing the damage with the appropriate damage code.
