PAINT PEELING ON LEFT REAR BUMPER UPPER GARNISH
(SERVICE CAMPAIGN TDZ)

 IMPORTANT
Dealers must perform this service campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery
and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
Access the “Vehicle Information” screen via WebDCS to identify open campaigns.
Description: Certain IONIQ 9 (ME1A EV) vehicles may exhibit paint peeling from the left upper garnish
on the rear bumper. This bulletin provides instructions to replace the left upper garnish on the rear
bumper.

NOTE 2: If a part is found in need of replacement while performing this campaign and the affected
part is still under warranty, submit a separate claim using the same repair order. If the affected part is
out of warranty, submit a Prior Approval request for goodwill consideration prior to performing the
work.
NOTE 3: This TSB includes repair validation photos. Op times include VIN, mileage, and repair
validation photo(s) as outlined in the Digital Documentation Policy.
NOTE 4: The incident parts are subject to callback through the normal Warranty Technical Center
(WTC) parts return process. Claim is subject to debit if the part is not returned.
NOTE 5: Replacement op. code 50DV16R0 will reimburse $1.00 in sublet for any clips that need to
be replaced as a part of the left rear bumper upper garnish replacement.

Left Upper Garnish Rear Bumper Replacement
1.

Open the tailgate.

2.

Remove the LH rear combination lamp (A) by
referring to the shop manual:

Remove the indicated clip and screws on the
left side of the rear bumper.

Remove the indicated clips from the left side of
the rear under cover.

Remove the screws as shown in the photo,
then detach the left side of the rear
bumper (B).

Remove the indicated screw and bolts on the
backside of the rear bumper.

Separate the rear bumper side molding (C)
from the rear bumper upper garnish (D).

Disconnect the indicated locking tabs then
remove the left upper garnish (E) from the rear
bumper.

9.

Install the new left upper garnish onto the rear
bumper.

10.

Reinstall all parts in the reverse order of the
removal process.

Using STUI, take a photo of the new
left rear bumper upper garnish with
the last 6 digits of the VIN and the date
of repair on a piece of paper.
Upload the photo to STUI.

12.

The service procedure is now complete.
