SITUATION
While driving on rough/uneven roads, a buzzing sound can be heard from the upper tailgate interior trim
panel.
Note: See attached video V51 03 24.

CAUSE
A welding burr on the upper tailgate trim panel is contacting the sheet metal.

CORRECTION
Remove the welding burr from the trim panel using a file or sandpaper.

PROCEDURE
1. Verify that the customer’s vehicle issue is the one described in this Service Information Bulletin.
2. Remove the upper tailgate trim panel following the repair instructions listed in ISTA/AIR 51 49 000.
3. Remove the protruding welding burr using a file or sandpaper (see attachment).
4. Install the tailgate trim back on the vehicle and verify the repair.

PARTS INFORMATION
No parts are generally required for this repair.
