SERVICE ACTION: FRONT MOTOR AND REDUCTION
GEAR (GDU) ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT (SA622)

This bulletin provides information to replace the Front Motor Reduction Gear Assembly (GDU) on certain
2025MY EV9 (MV1a) vehicles produced from November 25, 2024 through December 06, 2025 that were
assembled at the Kia assembly plant in the US. The affected vehicles may experience abnormal noise coming
from the front GDU which is caused by a missing wave washer from the motor inside the front GDU. Follow
the procedure outlined in this publication to replace the front GDU on the applicable vehicle. Before
conducting the procedure, verify that the vehicle is included in the list of affected VINs.

A Service Action is a repair program without customer notification that is performed during the
warranty period. Any dealer requesting to perform this repair outside the warranty period will
require DPSM approval.
Repair status for a VIN is provided on KDealer+ (Service → Warranty Coverage → Warranty
Coverage Inquiry → Campaign Information). Not completed Recall / Service Action reports are
available on KDealer+ (Consumer Affairs → Not Completed Recall → Recall VIN → Select Report),
which includes a list of affected vehicles.

Replacement Procedure:
DANGER
When performing this procedure, follow all EV battery safety precaution procedures found in the
“General Information → General Safety Information and Caution” chapter in the Shop Manual on
KGIS and wear all required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Failure to follow the safety
instructions may result in serious electrical injuries.

1.

Replace the Front Motor and Reduction Gear
Assembly (A) by referring to “Motor and
Reduction Gear System → Front Motor and
Reduction Gear Assembly → Removal →
Installation” in the applicable Shop Manual on
KGIS.

2.

Reinstall all removed parts in reverse order of
removal.

3.

Confirm normal operation.
