INITIAL INFORMATION:
To ensure the 2025 390 models listed above are performing correctly at the time of delivery, it is necessary to
perform an initialization run during the pre-delivery inspection (PDI).
An overview of the steps necessary to perform the initialization run are listed below.
Instructions for performing the initialization run can be found in the throttle body section of the Repair Manual.
PROCEDURE FOR REPAIR:
We shall not provide a description of general workshop methods. Likewise, safety rules that apply in a workshop
are not specified here. It is assumed that the repair work will be performed by a fully trained technician who has
completed training or has a corresponding qualification. In the event of uncertainty, the most recent repair
manual must be consulted.

SETUP:
Complete the steps in the Set Up Instructions manual to unpack and setup the vehicle.
Connect both negative cables (1). Connect the positive battery cable and the bus bar plate (2).
Be sure all 4 battery connections are routed and tightened correctly.
Tighten the bus bar plate on the starter relay (3).

PERFORMING THE INITIALIZATION RUN:
The Diagnostic Tool is connected and active, Software version is up-to-date, all model-specific variant coding
is correct. The engine is cold (ambient).
1. DELETE THE ADAPTATION VALUES:
Execute «Engine control unit» > «Functions» > «Clear specific adaptation values».
All subfunctions must be executed.
All adaptation values are deleted.
Cycle the ignition off (15-20 seconds) and back on.
Do not operate the throttle grip and observe the waiting time.
Waiting time without operating the throttle grip: 20 seconds.
2. PROGRAM THE GEAR POSITION SENSOR:
Execute «Engine control unit» > «Functions» > «Neutral gear calibration».
Switch to the main menu.
Cycle the ignition off (15-20 seconds) and back on.
Green neutral indicator N lights up.
3. PROGRAM THE SHIFT SHAFT / QUICKSHIFTER SENSOR:
Execute «Engine control unit» > «Functions» > «Quickshifter calibration».
4. IF AVAILABLE, PROGRAM THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM.
DO NOT OPERATE THE THROTTLE GRIP DURING THE INITIALIZATION PROCESS!
Note: If initialization is not completed or the process was interrupted, the entire process must be restarted.
Check adaptation values for plausibility and error memory for entries using the diagnostics tool.
Switch off the ignition for 20 seconds.
Once the initialization run has been completed successfully, the motorcycle operation should be verified.

5. FINAL STEPS:
Start the engine without operating the throttle grip.
Allow the engine to run at idle speed.
