The repair quality of covered vehicles is extremely important to Toyota. All dealership technicians
performing this recall are required to successfully complete the most current version of the E-Learning
course “Safety Recall and Service Campaign Essentials”. To ensure that all vehicles have the repair
performed correctly; technicians performing this repair are required to currently have completed the
following course:
-TIC206A – Electrical repair 1
It is the dealership’s responsibility to select technicians that have completed the above courses to
perform this repair. Carefully review your resources, the technician skill level, and ability before
assigning technicians to this repair. It is important to consider technician days off and vacation
schedules to ensure there are properly trained technicians available to perform this repair at all times.

II. IDENTIFICATION OF AFFECTED VEHICLES
1. CHECK VEHICLE FOR CAMPAIGN ELIGIBILITY
a. Compare the vehicles VIN to the VIN listed on the Repair Order to ensure they match.
b. Check the TIS Vehicle Inquiry System to confirm the VIN is involved in this Campaign, and
that it has not already been completed.
Note: TMNA warranty will not reimburse dealers for repairs completed on vehicles that are not
affected or were previously completed, even by another dealer.

IV. BACKGROUND
Approximately 200 Model Year 2025 GR86 vehicles may have been sold with wheel locks/lug nuts
of a different color than were intended for GR86 Hakone Edition. All involved vehicles are missing
the tan leather trimmed owner portfolio that is specific to the GR86 Hakone Edition.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the
vehicle. The installation of this accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure quality
installation.
NOTE: Do not remove lug nuts or install lug nuts while the vehicle is resting on the floor.

VI.

WORK PROCEDURE
1. INSPECTION
a. Inspect the color of vehicle lug nuts and wheel locks.
NG – Chrome Color

NOTE:
 All vehicles included in this limited-service campaign will receive the special edition owner’s
portfolio.
 If vehicle has aftermarket wheels and lug nuts/wheel locks. Do not replace with the black
options. Wheel may have different chamfer than OE lug nuts. Provide the unopened parts
package to the customer.

2. ORDER PARTS
a. Order parts per the result of the inspection shown above.
3. REPAIR: Once parts have arrived, follow Toyota Accessory Installation procedures to
replace lug nuts/wheel locks with new black ones.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE AN IMPACT WRENCH TO INSTALL OR REMOVE WHEEL LOCKS.
a. Prepare the vehicle.
i. Firmly apply the parking brake.
ii. Put automatic transmission in “P”.
iii. Put manual transmission in “R”.
iv. Lift the vehicle.

NOTE: Do not remove lug nuts or install lug nuts while the vehicle is resting on the floor.
b. Remove and replace the Lug Nuts
i. By hand, remove and replace each lug nut individually, using new black lug
nuts and wheel locks. Use one wheel lock per wheel.
ii. If the studs are dirty, clean them with a wire brush prior to installing the wheel
locks. (Fig. 1-1)
NOTE: Use safety glasses while using the wire brush.

iii. Take the key supplied in the wheel lock set and place it on top of the wheel
lock. Turn the key until the patterns engage (Fig. 2-1)

CAUTION: Do not use an impact wrench to install or remove the wheel locks.
i.
For wheel locks, place the 19mm Deep Socket on top of the key.
ii.
Apply pressure on the key and use a torque wrench to tighten the wheel locks
to 120 N∙m (89 ft∙lbf) (Fig. 2-2).
iii.
Tighten lug nuts/wheel locks in sequence 1-5 following the pattern shown in
(Fig. 3-1)
Torque: 120 N∙m (89 ft∙lbf)
c. Remove the vehicle from the lift.
d. Place any information that comes with the wheel lock packet in the glove box.
e. Store the Key
i. Place the wheel lock key in the tool storage tray located on the right side of
the rear cargo area (Fig. 3-1).

VII. APPENDIX
1.
PARTS DISPOSAL
In accordance with Federal law, please make sure all recalled parts (original parts)
removed from the vehicle are disposed of in a manner in which they will not be reused,
unless requested for parts recovery return.
