+ The exterior door handle touch sensors (Audi advanced key) are inoperative on one or several doors.

+ The key blade can be used mechanically (driver door or trunk) or remote electrically (key remote buttons) to
unlock and lock the vehicle.

Technical Background

Concept-related restrictions

1. If the key is in the direct vicinity (e.g. same coat pocket) as a smartphone, the advanced key function may be
affected by interference due to phone signals.

2. If other transmitters operate in the same frequency range *e.g. mobile phones, TV broadcasters, wireless
headphones, remote controls of cranes, baby monitors, carports with photovoltaic systems and active
inverters, other vehicle remote controls, etc.), the advanced key function may have been temporarily switched
off, as it is not possible to clearly identify the signal.

3. If the customer reaches into the door handle while 2
touching the lock sensor to lock the vehicle (Figure 3b
1), the unlocking range of the sensor is activated @
at the same time. As unlocking has a higher “
priority than locking, the vehicle cannot be locked |
in this way. This may not be depicted very clearly
in the Owner’s Manual.

4. The Audi advanced key system needs a short response time for the key identification. When the door handle
is grabbed and pulled very quickly, the key may not yet be identified, and the vehicle does not unlock.

5. Unlocking the door after it is locked is not possible for a brief period. This allows the customer to check that
the door is locked by pulling the handle.
6. If an external device is plugged in to the 12 V socket or USB connection, its signals may interfere with the
advanced key function.
7. A3(8V), A4 (8K), AS (8T, 8F), AG/A7 (4G), A8 (4H), Q3 (8U), Q5 (8R), R8 (4S):
To reduce power consumption, the door handle touch sensors are deactivated after the vehicle has been
parked for a few days. It is then necessary to first wake the vehicle by pulling the door handle once and then a
second time to open the vehicle. In this situation, locking the vehicle with the Audi advanced key is only
possible after an ignition cycle.
Q7 (4M), A4 (8W) and AS (F5) up to production 45/2016:
The ignition must be switched on for the advanced key to work again.
All others:
The door handle sensors are no longer switched off after a stationary period.
8. If the vehicle battery is discharged, the energy management system gradually deactivates unnecessary
convenience functions. It is possible that the vehicle temporarily will not unlock with the Audi advanced key.

10. Environmental influences such as dirt, snow and salt can influence the conductivity of the door handle.

Warranty
There is no reason to attempt any repairs. Invoicing under warranty is not permitted. Unjustified work/replacement
parts will be charged back.
