Pantry Light Relay Installation
In certain models and floor plans, Brinkley RV has identified a concern with the pantry light switch operating
intermittently. The following are detailed instructions for installation of a new magnet switch and relay to
address this concern.
Safety:

Safety is and should always be observed when performing any type of repair. ANSI (American National
Standards Institute) has created a standardized labeling system for different levels of safety and danger. The label
below provides information regarding those levels of danger, and should be observed and adhered to at all times.

injury.

WARNING
Use caution when working on the electrical system, especially when using metal tools. When a metal tool
encounters a live, powered source it will cause the system to short circuit potentially resulting in personal injury,
property damage, explosion, or fire.

CAUTION
Always wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as eye protection, ear protection, gloves and possibly
a full face shield depending on the nature of the task to be performed.

WORK INSTRUCTIONS:
1. READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS
PRIOR TO BEGINNING WORK.
2. Locate and remove 15A fuse for the pantry light in
the 12V fuse panel (Figure 1A). It should be fuse #12,
labeled as “Monitor Panel”.
3. Open the pantry door wide.

4. Mark the location of the pantry switch magnet on the door jamb with a pencil and note the orientation of
the magnet switch (Figure 2A).
5. Setup the ladder in front of the pantry to access the top of the pantry cabinet.
6. Climb the ladder and locate the wiring for the pantry light and magnet switch (Figure 3).

WARNING
Read and follow all the manufacturer’s instructions and labels on the stepladder. Maintain a 3-point contact (two
hands and a foot, or two feet and a hand) when climbing/descending a ladder. Stay near the middle of the ladder
and face the ladder while climbing up/down. Keep ladders free of any slippery materials. Only put ladders on a
stable and level surface that is not slippery. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury or
property damage.

7. Remove the wiring bundle from the plastic wiring clip (Figure 4A).
+ NOTICE
Use care when removing the wiring bundle from the plastic clip so as not to damage the clip. A new clip is not
provided in the parts kit.

8. Disconnect the magnet switch wiring (Figure 4B) from the Wago connectors (Figure 4C) and disconnect
the Wago connectors from the other wiring. Discard the Wago Connectors.
9. Reach down into the pantry cabinet and remove the magnet switch from the door jamb. It is held on by an
adhesive strip on the back of the magnet switch.
10. Pull the magnet switch wires through the hole in the cabinet ceiling and then discard the magnet switch
and wiring.
11. Remove the paper backing from the adhesive strip on the back of the new magnet switch (Figure 5A)
(P/N 100932) and install the magnet switch on the door jamb in the same location and orientation as the
previous one.

12. Feed the magnet switch wiring up through the hole in the cabinet ceiling.
13. Climb the ladder.
14. Using the wire strippers, remove the wire insulation from the new magnet switch wiring and if necessary,
the existing light and power wiring. The existing light and power wiring should already have the insulation
removed from the initial installation.

15. Connect the wires per the wiring diagram (Figure 8) and use the wire crimpers to install the necessary
spade connectors (Yellow P/N 100973, Red P/N 111040) onto the ends of the wires (Figure 6) per the
wiring diagram (Figure 8). Make sure to twist the wires together before crimping the spade connectors.
16. Install the wires with the spade connectors on them to the spades on the relay (P/N 119799) (Figure 7B)
according to the wiring diagram (Figure 8).
17. Slide the wiring bundle back into the plastic retaining clip (Figure 7A).
18. Re-insert 15A fuse for the pantry light in the 12V fuse panel that you removed in step 1.

19. Test the operation of the magnet switch by closing the pantry door. You should hear a click and the light
will turn off when the magnet switch connects with the metal plate on the pantry door.
20. If the light and magnet switch function properly, installation is complete.
