Purpose for Service Bulletin

This software update is to address a possible customer concern
related to the smoothness of brake engagement during a linked
braking event when only rear brake is applied. If a customer
has concerns on this Linked Braking operation under these
conditions, this improvement update can be applied.

NOTE
For vehicles within factory warranty and concern is present,
submit a warranty claim per Table 4.

Connect Techlink 3 (TL-3) to vehicle.
Special Tool: TECHLINK 3 (HD-48650-TL3)

This bulletin inform dealers that there is an Electro Hydraulic
Control Unit (EHCU) update available. This update is to improve
functionality of the Linked Braking System. Linked Braking
allows for more balanced front and rear braking under a wide
variety of brake applications. At speeds greater than 20 mph
(32 km/h), the system dynamically adjusts the linking to achieve
better braking balance, as compared to single input braking.
The EHCU update improves Linked Braking with optimized
front and rear brake proportioning while only the rear brake is
being applied by the rider.

Connect external power to TL-3 using appropriate power
supply providing at least:

12 V

Place vehicle in Accessory mode.

Press and hold trip button for 5 seconds.

Open DT II program and establish communication with
vehicle.

6.

Proceed to reflash EHCU and follow on-screen directions.

NOTE
See Figure 1. The EHCU reflash will not be colored red (1)
as it typically is when there is a reflash available. Verify
that the “A” revision Calibration number is not listed in the
ON VEHICLE column, indicating the update has already
been done, before proceeding.

Required

The vehicle battery should be fully charged prior to doing the
software update. Have a battery tender connected while
performing software update.
Verify that the most up-to-date Software Version (25.6.2 or
newer) is installed. Check software version using Digital
Technician II (DT II).

NOTE
In the interest of preserving customer safety and satisfaction, always check for outstanding recalls whenever any motorcycle is brought into your dealership for either maintenance or service.
