diagnosis and repair procedures. Apply this procedure to the applicable vehicles.

Condition
Updated oil pumps that provide improved oil flow are available for the Torque Drive Unit (TDU) and Efficiency Drive
Unit (EDU) on Semi.

Correction
Replace the TDU and EDU oil pumps with updated parts.
NOTE: If this bulletin is applicable to the vehicle, perform the correction without any need for inspection.

Procedure
1. Remove the LH TDU oil pump (refer to Service Manual procedure 3901010032).
2. Drain the LH TDU oil collected in the oil drain container into the empty measuring container (Figures 1 and 2).
NOTE: Make sure that the measuring container is empty and clean.

3. Note the volume and color of the oil drained in the Service Visit, and then discard the oil as required.
4. Install the new LH TDU oil pump (refer to Service Manual procedure 3901010032).
5. Remove the RH TDU oil pump (refer to Service Manual procedure 3901020031).
6. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the RH TDU oil collected in the oil drain container, and then continue to the next step.
7. Install the new RH TDU oil pump (refer to Service Manual procedure 3901020031).
8. Remove the EDU oil pump (refer to Service Manual procedure 4001010022).
9. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the EDU oil collected in the oil drain container, and then continue to the next step.
10. Install the new EDU oil pump (refer to Service Manual procedure 4001010022).
11. Remove the Efficiency Drive Axle (EDA) gearbox oil pump (refer to Service Manual procedure 4001000021).

12. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the EDA gearbox oil collected in the oil drain container (Figure 3), and then continue to
the next step.

13. Install the new EDA gearbox oil pump (refer to Service Manual procedure 4001000021).
14. Remove the Torque Drive Axle (TDA) gearbox oil pump (refer to Service Manual procedure 3901000031).
15. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the TDA gearbox oil collected in the oil drain container (Figure 3), and then continue to
the next step.
16. Install the new TDA gearbox oil pump (refer to Service Manual procedure 3901000031).
17. Release the red locking tab and disconnect the RH TDU oil pump connector (Figure 4).
CAUTION: Make sure that the RH TDU oil pump connector is disconnected before proceeding.

18. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
19. In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, search for “Configure Drive Unit Gear Oil Pump”, and then select Configure
Drive Unit Gear Oil Pump (Figure 5).

20. Select Torque_Drive_Axle:TDA from the drop-down, and then click Run and allow the routine to complete
(Figure 6). Click X at the top right of the window to exit once the routine is complete.
CAUTION: Make sure that the RH TDU oil pump connector is disconnected prior to running this routine.

21. Connect the RH TDU oil pump connector and secure the red locking tab into position (Figure 4).

22. Release the red locking tab and disconnect the EDU oil pump connector (Figure 7).
CAUTION: Make sure that the EDU oil pump connector is disconnected before proceeding.

23. In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, search for “Configure Drive Unit Gear Oil Pump”, and then select Configure
Drive Unit Gear Oil Pump (Figure 5).
24. Select Efficiency_Drive_Axle:EDA from the drop-down, and then click Run and allow the routine to complete
(Figure 8). Click X at the top right of the window to exit once the routine is complete.
CAUTION: Make sure that the EDU oil pump connector is disconnected prior to running this routine.

25. Connect the EDU oil pump connector and secure the red locking tab into position (Figure 7).
26. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle.
27. Reinstall the vehicle firmware (refer to Service Manual procedure 00020018).
28. Close out this document using correction code S022539001.
