What is the condition?

Included vehicles are equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 3.0, which includes the Pre-Collision
System (PCS), which uses the forward recognition camera. In rare cases, a software programming issue
can damage the forward recognition camera. This will result in the Pre-Collision System not working
the next time the car is started.
If the condition occurs on the vehicle, the customer may see warning lights, hear chimes, and see the message
in the image below.

Please note: these warning lights and the warning message may be shown for issues unrelated to this
specific issue and does not necessarily mean that this condition has occurred. The dealer will be able
to confirm the cause of the warning light/message.

What is Toyota going to do?

Any authorized Toyota dealer will update the software of the forward recognition camera FREE OF
CHARGE. This will update your TSS 3.0 system to software version 02.02. If the condition has occurred
on the vehicle, causing damage to the forward recognition camera, the Toyota dealer will replace the
forward recognition camera FREE OF CHARGE.

What is included in the software update?

A2a: The remedy for this campaign involves updating your TSS 3.0 system to software version
02.02. In addition to addressing the condition in this campaign, this software update provides the
following enhancements.
• Adding Proactive Driving Assist (PDA).
o

Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) uses the vehicle’s camera and radar, when system operating
conditions are met, to provide gentle braking and/or steering to support driving tasks
such as distance control between your vehicle and a preceding vehicle, pedestrian, or
bicyclist. PDA can also provide gentle braking into curves.

your vehicle model and model year. A Proactive Driving Assist supplemental owner’s
manual is available.
o Note: This feature will be disabled by your dealer by default after the software update.
• Road Sign Assist (RSA): Enhancement of detection threshold (speed and distance) of road sign
display feature.
• Other: Additional minor improvements to support future software updates.
If you would like to activate the PDA feature after the software update has been completed, you can do so by

navigating to vehicle settings using the menu buttons on the left-hand side of your steering wheel, and
switching on the feature. Please follow these steps:

Ensure the vehicle is parked in a safe place.

2. Start vehicle as you normally would.
3. Navigate to vehicle settings using meter control/menu switches located on the lefthand side of the
steering wheel shown below

Yes, there are approximately 71,700 Lexus NX vehicles covered by this Special Service
Campaign.

How long will the repair take?
The standard repair for reprogramming the forward recognition camera takes approximately 45
minutes. If the camera has been damaged due to this condition, the dealer will need to order a
replacement and schedule the installation. Replacing the camera can take up to two hours. However,
depending on the dealer's workload, the vehicle may need to be available for a longer duration.
Q4a: Are there other software updates that may be needed before I can get 25TC03 completed on
my car?
A4a: Yes. Applicable vehicles must complete Special Service Campaign 23TC01 before proceeding
with this campaign.
