Condition
Included vehicles are equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 3.0, which
includes the Pre-Collision System (PCS), which uses the forward recognition
camera. In rare cases, a software programming issue can damage the forward
recognition camera. This will result in the Pre-Collision System not working the
next time the car is started.
Remedy
Any authorized Toyota dealer will update the software of the forward
recognition camera FREE OF CHARGE. This will update the TSS 3.0 system to
software version 02.02. If the condition has occurred on a vehicle, causing
damage to the forward recognition camera, the Toyota dealer will replace the
forward recognition camera FREE OF CHARGE.

What is included in the software update?
The remedy for this campaign involves updating the TSS 3.0 system to software version 02.02. In addition to
addressing the condition in this campaign, this software update provides the following enhancements.
• Adding Proactive Driving Assist (PDA).
o Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) uses the vehicle’s camera and radar, when system operating
conditions are met, to provide gentle braking and/or steering to support driving tasks such as
distance control between the vehicle and a preceding vehicle, pedestrian, or bicyclist. PDA can
also provide gentle braking into curves.

input the vehicle model and model year. A Proactive Driving Assist supplemental owner’s
manual is available.
o Note: This feature will be disabled by the dealer by default after the software update.
• Road Sign Assist (RSA): Enhancement of detection threshold (speed and distance) of road sign display
feature.
• Other: Additional minor improvements to support future software updates.
Please note: Applicable vehicles must complete Special Service Campaign 23TC01 before proceeding with
this campaign.

The flat rate times include 0.1 hours for administrative cost per unit for the dealership.
In the event of a parts back-order situation only, a loaner vehicle or alternative transportation through the
Toyota Rent-A-Car (TRAC) can be claimed up to a maximum of 21 days as a sublet type “RT” under Op
Codes 25TC03R2, 25TC03R3, 25TC03R4 and 25TC03R5).
o For rentals that exceed the maximum number of allowable days and/or dollars per day, refer to the

Toyota Transportation Assistance Policy (TTAP) for DSPM authorization requirements.
o Rental invoice MUST be attached to all rental claims. These claims may be subject to debit if rental
invoice is not attached.

Salvage Title Vehicles
Every attempt should be made to complete an open Special Service Campaign when circumstances permit,
unless noted otherwise in the SSC dealer letter.
Remedy Procedures
Refer to TIS for Technical Instructions on repair. Conduct all non-completed Safety Recalls and Service
Campaigns on the vehicle during the time of appointment.
Repair Quality Confirmation
The repair quality of covered vehicles is extremely important to Toyota. To help ensure that all vehicles have
the repair performed correctly, please designate at least one associate (someone other than the individual
who performed the repair) to verify the repair quality of every vehicle prior to customer delivery.
Technician Training Requirements
The repair quality of covered vehicles is extremely important to Toyota. All dealership technicians performing
this repair are required to successfully complete the most current version of the E-Learning course “Safety
Recall and Service Campaign Essentials”. To ensure that all vehicles have the repair performed correctly;
technicians performing this repair are required to have completed the following course.
