Issue
Loss of communication between the pack management unit (PMU) and the battery management controller (BMC) resulting in the high voltage battery pack going
offline.
Symptom:
Any of the following Fault Codes are active:
Fault Code 12543
Fault Code 12553
Fault Code 12558
Fault Code 12564
Fault Code 12569
Fault Code 12575
Fault Code 13751
Root Cause
Increased current supplied to the Power Interlock Board (PIB) when low voltage battery supply is low can cause the PIB fuse to fail.
Verification
Connect directly to the battery pack with the battery reflash harness (5572448), bench harness (PN 3163151), power supply, and INLINE 7 or equivalent.
Select CAN EXT and connect the resistor to the battery reflash harness.
Connect to Accelera Diagnostics electronic service tool by selecting datalink 5.

Navigate to the Pack Data Tab and confirm that state of charge (SOC) is displaying for Pack 7E.
If the pack displays SOC, do not proceed with the TSB, and follow published troubleshooting steps for the active fault codes.
If the Pack 7E is not displaying SOC, connect to a battery pack without a fault code to verify the electronic service tool is communicating properly.
If the electronic service tool is communicating properly, proceed to the Resolution section.
Resolution
Replace the power interlock board (PIB).

If the Battery Management System (BMS) software is at Road Release (RR) 6 and below, update the software to the latest version.
