APPLIES TO:

This service bulletin applies to 2022 – 2025 model year, K1, K2, K3, and
K4 model motor home chassis built between September 10th, 2021 –
October 23, 2023, equipped with a three pod steering wheel and an ICM.

CONDITION:

Steering wheel switches may stop working and flash their backlight.

CORRECTION:

Update the ICM application code to the new version.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Thoroughly review entire service bulletin before starting work. If there are questions or concerns

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Download the ICM update software from the Spartan Academy site from the RSB23-500-001
ICM Recall download.
a. If the ICM has already been updated to v1.4 app code as part of RSB23-500-001
then no further action is required.

2. If AmeFlash hasn’t been ran on the used computer before, perform the following steps.
a. Run the ‘AmeFlashInstaller-Spartan.exe’.
b. When prompted, do not change the ‘Destination Folder’ from the default and just
press install.
c. Open the AmeFlash program. On your first time launching it, it should bring up the
Comm Setup window.

d. Ensure the settings are set for a Nexiq 2 and 500k (matching the picture above)
and press ‘OK’. If you are using a different adapter tool, change your settings
accordingly.
3. Save the ‘APP_PMM_CK_1.4.s19’ file from the downloaded software to an easily found
folder.
4. Connect your laptop to the diagnostic port of the vehicle with your adapter.
5. Launch AmeFlash. After a short period of ‘Searching for Ametek Devices…’ it should show the
screen below.

6. Select the PMM module (there may be other items present in the list).
a. If the module shown is instead named SCM, do not attempt to run the update.
The vehicle is not equipped with an ICM and running this software update on that
device will disable it. If this does get updated, contact Spartan CPS to get the
needed software to revert it to the original software.
7. In the right pane, press the select button next to the APP line. Browse to where you saved
the ‘APP_PMM_CK_1.4.s19’ earlier, select it, and press OK.
8. The box next to APP should now have a file path in it. Press ‘Flash’.

9. The ICM should pop up a flash progress window that will go through the following steps.

a. Entering Flash Mode
b. Erasing Section: APP
c. Flashing Section: APP
10. Once done, the flash progress window will close on its own and the ICM should restart. If the
vehicle is equipped with PKS, turn the ignition back on. Press the ‘Find Devices’ button again and
select the PMM. The App code should now say it is version ‘1.4’.
