General Motors is releasing Service Update N242484110 today.
What Should Dealers Do: Dealers should review IVH or the Dealer Maxis reports
for open VINs in their inventory. Dealers can view the attached bulletin and it
will also be displayed in Service Information tomorrow.
A Stock VIN list is not included as our records show there are no vehicles in
dealer new inventory.

vehicle involvement prior to beginning any required inspections and/or repairs.

Reminder: Parts may be removed from SPRINT and Retail Inventory Management (RIM) and be non-returnable. Dealers
should review the affected parts to confirm RIM managed status. Parts may have quantity limiters in effect. There are a
small number of vehicles anticipated that will need this fix. Due to the limited initial parts availability, dealers are
encouraged not to order these parts for use as shelf stock.

Service Procedure
1.

Remove the Front Compartment Rear Access Cover. Refer to Front Compartment Rear Access Cover
Replacement in SI.

2.

Check hydraulic suspension reservoir fluid level and add as needed.

3.

Ensure the brake fluid level in the CH-29532-A Pressure Brake Bleeder is adequately filled with DOT4 brake fluid.

4.

Install CH-29532-A Pressure Brake Bleeder and CH-44894-A Brake Bleeder Adapter on the Hydraulic Suspension
Fluid Reservoir.

5.

With the GDS2 scan tool, establish communication with the K218 Front Suspension Leveling/Lifting Hydraulic
Power Pack Module.

6.

Pressurize the hydraulic fluid reservoir to 40-45 psi.

7.

Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in SI.

8.

Remove both the LH and RH front wheel and tire assemblies.

9.

Place a suitable drain catch pan under the LH hydraulic hose end to catch discarded fluid.

10. Disconnect the LH Front Hydraulic Suspension Actuator Inlet Hose from the front shock absorber. Discard the
banjo bolt and both seals.

11. Lower vehicle to working height.
Important: DO NOT Select Automatic Level Control System Bleed. The hydraulic system will be bled after the
replacement of both Front Shock Absorbers.
Note: Once procedure is started in GDS2, DO NOT open either door or the procedure will stop.
12. Using the scan tool, under Control Functions, select Front Suspension Hydraulic Line Flush.
Note: After the LH side flush is complete, do not continue the flush in GDS2 until Step 20.
13. Follow GDS2 tool instructions and flush the LH side.
14. After the LH side flush is complete, use hose pinch pliers to stop additional fluid from draining out of the LH
hydraulic hose. Do not press continue to flush the RH side in GDS2 until Step 20.
15. Check and add additional brake fluid to the Pressure Brake Bleeder as needed.
16. Place a suitable drain catch pan under the RH hydraulic hose end to catch discarded fluid.
17. Disconnect the RH Front Hydraulic Suspension Actuator Inlet Hose from the front shock absorber. Discard the
banjo bolt and both seals.
18. Press continue and follow GDS2 tool instructions and flush the RH side.
19. Use hose pinch pliers to stop additional fluid from draining out of the RH hydraulic hose after flushing.
20. Depressurize the Pressure Brake Bleeder. The tool may remain connected to the vehicle as bleeding the hydraulic
system will be necessary after both Front Shock Absorber replacements.
21. Replace the LH Front Shock Absorber. Refer to Shock Absorber, Shock Absorber Component, or Spring
Replacement in SI.
Note: Ensure to bleed the hydraulic system after replacement.
22. Replace the RH Front Shock Absorber. Refer to Shock Absorber, Shock Absorber Component, or Spring
Replacement in SI.
Dealer Responsibility
Whenever a vehicle subject to this service update enters your vehicle inventory or is in your facility for service in the
future, and the vehicle is still covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, you must take the steps necessary to be
sure the service update correction has been made before selling or releasing the vehicle.
All new, used, GM Certified Pre-Owned (CPO), courtesy transportation vehicles, dealer shuttle vehicles, CarBravo, etc.
in dealers' possession and subject to this field action must be held and inspected/repaired per the service procedure of
this bulletin before customers take possession of these vehicles. Involved vehicles must be held and not delivered to
customers, dealer-traded, released to auction, used for demonstration, or any other purpose.
All GM Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicles currently in the dealers’ inventory within the SHIFT Digital system will be
de-certified and must be held and remedied per the service procedure in this bulletin. Upon submitting an accepted/paid
warranty transaction in the Global Warranty Management (GWM) system, the vehicle can be re-certified for sale within
the SHIFT Digital system, or once again be used in the Courtesy Transportation Program.

The Inventory tab of the Open Vehicle Report will contain Service Update Bulletin VINs that apply to this field action.
This information is intended to assist dealers with the PROMPT COMPLETION of these vehicles. The Customer InService tab will not contain Service Update Bulletin VIN data because the intent of a Service Update Bulletin is to not
inconvenience a customer with a special trip for service. Service Update Bulletins are to be completed when the
customer is in for a regularly scheduled visit.
