This bulletin supersedes 25-2001. Reason for update: Revised Part List and Service Procedure

Issue: Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit a loss of engine coolant from a leak at
the coolant pump. This may be due to contamination in the engine's cooling system.
Action: For vehicles that meet all of the criteria in the Issue and Model statements, follow the Service Procedure to
flush the engine cooling system and replace the coolant pump.

Warranty Status: Eligible under provisions of New Vehicle Limited Warranty (NVLW)/Service Part Warranty

(SPW)/Service Part New Vehicle (SPNV)/Extended Service Plan (ESP) coverage. Limits/policies/prior approvals are

not altered by a TSB. NVLW/SPW/SPNV/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and

verified using the OASIS part coverage tool.

Service Procedure

1. Perform a cooling system pressure test. Refer to the WSM, Section 303-03A Engine Cooling - 1.5L EcoBoost >
Diagnosis and Testing. Is the coolant pump leaking?

(1). Yes - proceed to Step 2.
(2). No - this article does not apply. Continue with normal WSM diagnosis.

2. Perform an engine cooling system flush by performing only Steps 1-9 in WSM, Section 303-03A Engine Cooling -
1.5L EcoBoost > General Procedures > Engine Cooling System Flushing.

(1). Each component is to be flushed for no more than 10 minutes.

3. Replace the coolant pump. Refer to the WSM, Section 303-03A Engine Cooling - 1.5L EcoBoost > Removal and
Installation.

4. Fill and bleed the engine cooling system properly. Refer to the WSM, Section 303-03A Engine Cooling - 1.5L
EcoBoost > General Procedures > Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding. Repeat Steps
10-12 a total of 10 times to remove any remaining air trapped in the system.

NOTE: Repeating Steps 10-12 differs from current WSM direction, but performing this process 10 times is

required for this particular repair.
