800 VOLT CONSTANT TELEMETRY POWER RETROFIT
Retrofit Description:
This procedure changes the telemetry power from switched to constant to improve data collection and
reliability.

Procedure
1. Perform the Proterra approved Lockout/Tagout procedure to make the bus safe for work.
2. Using a T-30 Torx Driver, remove the driver’s overhead panel shown below.
3. Locate the connector labeled PD021 near the MUX underneath the removed panel.

4. Using a Pin Extractor Tool, remove the pin from Cavity 2 of PD021.
5. Using a Heat Gun, apply Heat Shrink (008293) to the pin.
6. Insert the Pin on the wire labeled 2PD021 on Harness (046835) into Cavity 2 of PD021.

7. Route the free end of Harness (046835) back through the Streetside Hadley compartment to
Connector PC001 at the rear of the bus.

8. Insert the pin on the wire labeled 32PC001 on Harness (046835) into Cavity 32 of connector
PC001.
9. Using Cable Ties (020657), secure the Harness (046835) to the existing wiring in the Hadley
Compartment. The Cable Ties should be spaced approximately 18-inches apart.
10. Working with the new Harness (046834), insert the pin on the wire labeled 32JC001 into Cavity
32 on connector JC001.
Note: JC001 mates with PC001.

11. Route the free end of the Harness (046834) along with the Rear Deck Harness down to JM023
on the Rear Deck. Remove covers as necessary.

12. Insert the Pin on the wire labeled 31JM023 into Cavity 31 of connector JM023.
13. Using Cable Ties (020657), secure the Harness (046834) to the existing wiring. The Cable
Ties should be spaced approximately 18-inches apart.
14. Replace any covers that were removed.
15. Working on the exterior Curbside of the bus, open the rear panel where the low voltage
batteries are located.

16. Locate the 300 Amp fuse in the Low Voltage Battery Box.
17. Using a 13mm Ratchet/Socket, remove the nut from the side of the fuse holder that connects
directly to the battery.
18. Connect the lugged terminal labeled 2FM001 on the Harness (046824) to the fuse holder.
19. Using a 13mm Ratchet/Socket, replace the nut that was removed from the fuse holder.
20. Using a Calibrated Torque Wrench with a 13mm Socket, torque the nut to 15 foot pounds.
21. Route the free end of the Harness (046824) along with the other wiring to the Streetside of the
rear deck.
22. Locate the connector labeled PM023.

23. Insert the pin on the wire labeled 31PM023 into Cavity 31 of connector PM023.

24. Using Cable Ties (020657), secure the Harness (046824) to the existing wiring. The Cable
Ties should be spaced approximately 18-inches apart.
25. Replace any panels or covers that were removed to complete the retrofit.
26. Remove the Lockout/Tagout devices and power on the bus.
27. Confirm operation of the datalogger before returning the bus to service.
