AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT (ACU) INSPECTION/REPLACEMENT
(WARRANTY EXTENSION Z01G)

Description: Certain 2017MY G90 (HI) and 2017MY G80 (DH) vehicles may experience various
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) related to the Airbag Control Unit (ACU). The associated DTC covered
by the TSB are listed on page 4 of this bulletin. The airbag warning light may illuminate; however, airbag
operation is unaffected.
Genesis is extending warranty coverage for the airbag control unit (ACU) under this condition to 15
years/unlimited mileage from the date of original retail delivery or date of first use (whichever occurs
first) and is valid for original and subsequent owners.
Follow the service procedure in this TSB to inspect the air bag control unit (ACU) and, if necessary,
replace the airbag control unit (ACU) if a DTC fault code if found from the list provided on page 4 of
TSB.

• 2017MY G80 (DH) vehicles produced from 03/13/2016 – 07/13/2017
• 2017MY G90 (HI) vehicles produced from 03/13/2016 – 03/13/2017

NOTE 1: If the affected parts are still under factory warranty, submit as normal warranty. If the
affected parts are out of factory warranty and within the extended warranty period, submit as a
campaign claim type using the appropriate op code listed above.
NOTE 2: If a part that is not covered by this TSB is found in need of replacement while performing
Z01G and the affected part is still under warranty, submit a separate claim using the same repair
order. If the affected part is out of warranty, submit a Prior Approval request for goodwill consideration
prior to performing the work.
NOTE 3: This TSB includes Repair validation photos. Op times include VIN, Mileage and Repair
validation photos as outlined in the Digital Documentation Policy.
NOTE 4: The incident parts are subject to callback through the normal Warranty Technical Center
(WTC) parts return process. Claim is subject to debit if the part is not returned.

Service Procedure:
DTC Check using Genesis Smart

1.

Connect the VCI into the vehicle's DLC
connector under the driver side and run Fault
Code Searching to perform Diagnostics.

2.

If there is NO DTC, then the service procedure
is now complete.
If there is a DTC found, but NOT in the table
below, then TSB does NOT apply. Continue
with a normal diagnosis.

3.

If the DTC in the table below is found, proceed
with the ACU replacement procedure.

ACU Replacement
1.

To replace the Airbag Control Unit (ACU), refer
to the shop manual:
• Restraint > SRSCM >
SRS Control Module (SRSCM) >
Repair procedures

2.

Replace the Airbag Control Unit (ACU) with a new one.

New Part

(A): Engraved characters “DMC” (backwards)
(B): No engraved characters

3.

After removing the old ACU, drill a hole through
the center of the removed part and
DO NOT RE-USE. Part may be discarded.

4.

Install in the reverse order of removal.

5.

To perform variant coding, refer to the shop
manual:
• Restraint > SRSCM > SRS Control
Module (SRSCM) > Repair procedures

After erasing the DTC, ensure the airbag system is
operating properly.

NOTICE
When the ignition switch is turned ON,
the airbag warning light should turn ON
for 6 seconds and then turn OFF.
