SUBJECT: DUAL SWEEP ANALOG (C4) GAUGE MOISTURE INTRUSION
PURPOSE
CONCERN
On some Polaris models equipped with a Dual Sweep Analog (C4) gauge cluster, dealers and customers may see moisture
intrusion or fogging present in the gauge clusters, similar to gauge clusters in other off-road and marine applications.
POTENTIAL CAUSE
Dual Sweep Analog (C4) gauge clusters are unsealed, non-pressurized clusters and, therein, are susceptible to some
moisture intrusion or fogging. Higher ambient temperatures and/or humidity will increase chances of moisture intrusion or
fogging. Leaving vehicles parked outside in these environmental conditions, or moving a vehicle from warm/humid air to an
air conditioned garage or vice versa, may promote moisture intrusion or fogging. Seasonal changes throughout the year
can also increase the chances of moisture intrusion or fogging.
RESOLUTION
Polaris uses industry accepted countermeasures in the design of the Dual Sweep Analog (C4) gauge to reduce the buildup
of moisture or fogging, including:
• Moisture vent adhesive sticker, which helps prevent water from entering the gauge but allows vapor to enter and exit with
heat cycles.
• Desiccant pack in the gauge to help absorb moisture.
Please refer to page 2 within this Team Tip for examples of unacceptable and acceptable levels of moisture intrusion or
fogging.

The following table shows two examples of gauges with varying levels of moisture intrusion or fogging.
UNACCEPTABLE
ACCEPTABLE
Condition: High level of moisture intrusion after attempting
to dry the gauge.
Dealer/Customer What To Do: Dealers/Customers should
attempt to dry the gauge out by leaving the affected unit in
the sun and monitoring for improvements. If the gauge
moisture intrusion does not improve after attempting to dry,
the gauge may be replaced.
Condition: Light level of moisture intrusion. Gauges
displaying this level of moisture intrusion or fogging should
not be replaced.
Dealer/Customer What To Do: Fogging should clear with
use or by placing the affected unit in sunlight.

CONCERN
On some Polaris models equipped with a Dual Sweep Analog (C4) gauge
cluster, dealers and customers may see moisture intrusion or fogging present in
the gauge clusters, similar to gauge clusters in other off-road and marine
applications.
