2.0 Over The Air Programming (OTAP)

Purpose:

This bulletin provides instructions for performing an Over The Air Programming (OTAP) vehicle software update.

Procedure:

Oshkosh S-Series engineering will queue an update to impacted trucks as required. Once queued, the truck will
begin to download the update in the background the next time cellular connection is established. Download of the
update to the truck will not impact truck operation.
The overhead display will prompt operator when the update has successfully been downloaded to the truck. See
Figure 1. Selecting Not Now button delays the installation of the update and returns the overhead display to the
home screen. If delayed, the Software Update Available screen will prompt operator again at next ignition key
cycle.
Customers need to perform the following procedure to complete the update. The truck will not be operational
during the update’s installation process and MUST NOT be interrupted. Contact service department for an
estimate of time to install the update.
1. Select Update button when ready to install software update. See Figure 1.

2. Make sure all required Interlocks have a green check mark in the Status column. See Figure 2.
3. Select Continue button. See Figure 2. Selecting Cancel button delays the installation of the update and
returns the overhead display to the home screen. If delayed, the Software Update Available screen will prompt
operator again at next ignition key cycle.

4. When the installation is in process, the status bar reflects overall update status and will only update when a
module completes, see Figure 3. Do not interrupt installation, the update must finish installing once started.

5. Press the Continue button when the Update Complete screen is displayed. See Figure 4.

Troubleshooting:

If installation of the update fails perform the following steps.

6. Turn vehicle battery disconnect switch OFF and let truck sit for 2 hours or until Telematics Control Unit (TCU)
powers OFF.
7. Turn battery disconnect switch ON.
8. Turn vehicle ignition switch to ON position. The overhead display will prompt for the software update. If
update screen does not appear contact service for more information.
9. Repeat Step 1 - 4 to install software update.
