UJN - TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM AUTO LEARN

Condition

Some customers may notice the tire pressure lamp and or
message on. The dealer also may not be able to perform the tire
pressure learn for one or both of the front tires. Vehicle may
have one or more of the following DTC’s C1171, C1172 and or
C1173.

Cause

This condition may be caused by interference from OnStar
module due to an issue grounding from the X7 connector. This
issue can also be intermittent.

Correction:
Do not replace any TPM sensors.

1. Attempt to learn the TPM sensors.
If one or more TPM sensors are unable to be learned, proceed to step 2.
If all sensors learn, test drive the vehicle for a minimum of 17 minutes with a
maintained vehicle speed of 25 mph and above. Ensure no TPM messages or
warnings appear, and all TPM sensors are reporting pressures. If any
messages/warnings set, proceed to step 2.

2. Gain access to the K73 Telematic Control Module (OnStar Module).
Note: It is only necessary to lower the headliner at the liftgate opening to gain
access to the module connectors. Only perform the steps in “Headlining Trim
Panel Replacement” to lower the headliner enough to gain access.

3. Cycle the K73 Telematics Control Module X7 connector by unplugging inspecting the
connector and plugging the connector back in. Ensure the cable is fully pushed into
the back of the X7 connector.

4. Ensure the OnStar button light turns green and attempt to learn the TPM sensors.
If the sensors still will not learn, follow normal SI diagnostics.
If all sensors learn, test drive the vehicle for a minimum of 17 minutes with a
maintained vehicle speed of 25 mph and above. Ensure no TPMS messages or
warnings appear, and all TPM sensors are reporting pressures. If any
messages/warnings set, follow normal SI diagnostics.
