Repair instructions

Technical background
The rear door strikers require checking for correct alignment and adjustment (if required)
Software updates must also be applied to following control modules on vehicles which are specified with the power door function:
•

Driver door control module (Diagnostic address 0042 / 07D2)

And
•

Passenger door control module (Diagnostic address 0052 / 07D3)

Note: 07D2 / 07D3 are subsystems of 0042 and 0052
Hint: Updates cannot be conducted to the door control modules alone therefore the following control modules will also be updated sequentially
once the applicable SVM code has been applied:
0019 - Gateway control module
0046 - Convenience system control module
0075 - Emergency call module and communication control module
07D2 - Power close door module (subsystem of 0042)
07D3 - Power close door module (subsystem of 0052)

Should the Software version already be 0450, the software is at the latest level, in this scenario the operative should confirm
the rear strikers are aligned as detailed within the Work section and then conduct all remaining instruction from Step 8

The instructions within the Work section must be conducted to completion

Please ensure all applicable instructions are conducted at the nearest opportunity, make a note of the required action on the workshop order
before it is signed by the customer
If it is omitted to perform the work required during a workshop visit, the customer should be notified immediately
You should also pass on this information to your new and used car sales departments so that affected vehicles are checked and repaired

If the vehicle is not already listed as repaired in “Repair history" (in Elsa pro), check for the presence of the yellow paint completion mark as
shown within the Identification section
If neither are evident please conduct the instructions within the Work section to completion

Loosen but do not remove the fixings (Figure 2)

the door latch (2)

Once the strikers are aligned, the operative must take a photograph which clearly shows
correct alignment

Hint: The photographs must be attached to a non technical DISS query titled SC24/16 Striker alignment

ODIS will automatically default to DoIP when the Bentley ODIS-S Brand version is 2.32.3 (Or later)

1) Select and run Guided Fault Finding
2) Referring to the example shown in Figure 6 - Navigate to the front driver door module (0042 / J386) > Guided Functions > Read identification

Repeat for the front passenger door module (0052 / J387)

Software Version Management - Software level at 0430 or 0440
•

The closed-circuit voltage of the vehicle must be at least 12.5 V during the update. Connect a suitable battery charger to the vehicle. For
further information refer to the Repair manual

•

During the update switch off all unnecessary consumers (ventilation, seat heater, interior illumination etc) ensure the main light switch is set
to ‘off’

•

Because of the highest transmission stability you MUST use the diagnosis interface VAS 6154 (WiFi diagnostic tool) ONLY in USB
operation or the cable-connected VAS 5055 for the reprogramming (updating) of control units. If these units are not available, the diagnosis
interface VAS 5054 (A) can also be used in USB mode

•

Do Not under any circumstances use a Bluetooth connection to conduct the reprogramming (updating) of any control units
CAUTION

•

The operative MUST have previously raised a DISS query and been given permission to conduct the update

Or
•

Should the Software version already be 0450 the operative must go to Step 8

3) Referring to Figure 7 - Within the Special functions tab select SVM - Code Input (A) then select Perform test (B)

4) On the next screen enter SVM code 4V1BIL53 and select Adopt (Figure 8)

5) On the following screen, confirm the code is correct and select Yes
•

All control modules will be interrogated

IMPORTANT: The control modules will automatically be updated sequentially in the order shown below
0019 - Gateway control module
0046 - Convenience system control module
0075 - Emergency call module and communication control module
07D2 - Power close door module (subsystem of 0042)
07D3 - Power close door module (subsystem of 0052)
•

The SVM action will then take place

6) Follow all on screen prompts until program end

7) On completion - Switch off the ignition
•

Remove the diagnostic interface from the OBD port

•

Switch off and remove the battery charger from the vehicle

•

Close the bonnet, boot and all doors

•

Lock the vehicle

•

Wait 5 minutes to allow the vehicle to go into bus silence

•

When 5 minutes has elapsed, unlock the vehicle and open the driver’s door

•

Switch on the ignition

8) Left hand rear door (LHR)
•

Open the LHR door

•

Sit on the LHR seat HINT: Ensure a suitable cover is used to protect the seat
CAUTION

•

The RHF - LHF and RHR doors must all be closed

•

The tailgate must be closed

•

All windows must be closed

•

Referring to Figure 9 - Press and hold the left DOOR CLOSE button

Check the LHR door fully closes and latches (including soft close operation) without the requirement to press the button a second time

•

Once fully closed/latched - Fully reopen the LHR door

•

Repeat the power close operation (x2) times (x3 in total)
NOTICE

However
In the event there are no power door close/latch operational issues and the power door could be power closed x3 times
without any issues the operative must conduct the remaining instructions to completion

Right hand rear door (RHR)

•

Open the RHR door

•

Sit on the RHR seat HINT: Ensure a suitable cover is used to protect the seat
CAUTION

•

The RHF - LHF and LHR doors must be closed

•

The tailgate must be closed

•

All windows must be closed

•

Referring to Figure 9 - Press and hold the right DOOR CLOSE button Check the RHR door fully closes and latches (including soft close
operation) without the requirement to press the button a second time

•

Once closed/latched - Fully reopen the RHR door

•

Repeat the power close operation (x2) times (x3 in total)
NOTICE

However
In the event there are no power door close/latch operational issues and the power door could be power closed x3 times
without any issues the operative must conduct Step 9
9) Apply a yellow paint completion mark on the underside of the left hand rear door harness grommet (Figure 10)
