Fluid in Rear Left Footwell / Rear Window Washer System does not Work: Replacing T-Piece
and Section of Hose for Rear Window Washer System (94/23)

Concerns:

Rear window washer system

Cause:

Customer complains about fluid/moisture in the rear left footwell as well as the failure of the
rear window washer system and the reversing camera cleaning function.
It is possible that a blanking plug may have come loose on the T-piece in the rear window washer system
hose.

Action:

If there is a customer complaint, replace the previous T-piece and section of the rear window washer
system hose.

Remove the upper part of the B-pillar trim panel at the left.

Remove the lower part of the B-pillar trim panel at the left.

Remove the rear seat.

Replacing T-piece and section of hose for rear window washer system
Work Procedure: 1

Carefully cut open the fabric adhesive tape and
foam. Uncover T-piece  T-piece and section of
corrugated tube for rear window washer system
(installation position under foam shown) -1- and
approx. 100 mm of the corrugated tube of the rear
window washer system.

Release and pull off the hose connections on the
previous T-piece.

Using suitable means, cover the area around
the T-piece and hose connections and catch
the leaking washer fluid.

2.2

Release the washer fluid hose connection for
the reversing camera  Hose connections

off the hose connection.

Pull off the hose from the T-piece. Then turn
locking element (white)  Hose connections

the locking position (the white locking lugs

Disconnect the corrugated tube for rear window
washer system  T-piece and corrugated tube
for rear window washer system -1- at a distance
of approx. 65 mm  T-piece and corrugated tube
for rear window washer system -A- from previous

Dispose of the corrugated tube section with the
previous T-piece.

10 Connect and switch on the battery charger.
 Workshop Manual '270689 Charging battery/vehicle electrical system'
11 Connect the P90999 - PIWIS Tester 4, switch on ignition and start the diagnostic application.
12 Read out and delete all control unit fault memories.
13 Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect P90999 - PIWIS Tester 4 from the
vehicle.
14 Switch off and disconnect the battery charger.
