Technical background
IMPORTANT: In the event the issue is evident and the vehicle is post the VIN’s shown below, a DISS query must be raised
ensuring the following is attached
•

Detailed description in which the issue occurred, for example - Driving on a quiet road with no traffic, conditions were
wet, the road had no street lighting

•

Clear photograph’s showing the condition of the night vision camera and night vision camera lens

•

Current up to date ODIS log (saved online)

Or
Should the vehicle be prior to the VIN’s shown below, the operative MUST carry out the instructions within the Measure
section of this TPI

The requirement to conduct applicable test plans for the night vision camera have now been replaced, instruction to conduct basic settings
have now been added instead

Measure
1) Carry out a visual check of the night vison camera assembly to confirm there is no damage which could result in water ingress
•

Inspect the night vision camera electrical connections for signs of water ingress

•

Check there is no external damage to the night vision camera lens which could result in water ingress

•

Check the camera is secure

2) If no damage is found as described in step 1, the operative must carry out basic settings of the night vision camera and retest
NOTICE

Or
Should damage be evident on the lens and the DTC’s were successfully cleared following the basic setting routine, the operative must remove
the lens and assess the camera for signs of water ingress

If water ingress is found the camera should be replaced. If no evidence of water is found then only the lens should be replaced

Refer to Rep.Gr 44 - Control unit for night vision (J853) - To remove and fit NOTE: The operative MUST ensure the night vision camera is
calibrated as per Rep.Gr 44
