Concerns:

Intake valves and intake ports

Cause:

Coked-up valves in the engine can be reworked and cleaned using cleaning equipment.
In the event of complaints about engine faults (knocking/tapping combustion during acceleration at
high loads, for example), the condition of the intake valves and ports must be checked during
diagnostics/troubleshooting before doing any other work.
If the check shows that the intake valves and intake ports are coked up with carbon deposits and
are dirty, they must be cleaned using the cleaning unit.
There should be no need to replace the components.

The cleaning unit can be ordered immediately for dealers.

Action:

The cleaning unit is used for cleaning coked-up intake valves and intake ports.
Compressed air is used to spray a special granulate mixture into the intake port, where it loosens and
removes coking.
The dirty granulate is extracted during spraying using an industrial vacuum cleaner.

Access the intake valves and ports via the intake-air distributor.
When working on the intake valves and ports using the cleaning unit, make sure that the
intake valves into the respective combustion chamber are closed  ignition TDC.

Information
When cleaning the inlet valves and inlet ducts,only walnut granules in conjunction with tools
VAS 294 011 or VAS 294 011 A are permitted as blasting material.
The use of cleaning equipment with dry ice is prohibited.
