TMK SEALANT LEAKAGE INSPECTION/PARTS REPLACEMENT
(SERVICE CAMPAIGN TBM)

 IMPORTANT
Dealers must perform this service campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery
and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
Access the “Vehicle Information” screen via WebDCS to identify open campaigns.
Description: Some 2023-2024MY IONIQ 5 (NE1) vehicles may have sealant leakage in the Tire
Mobility Kit (TMK). The leakage may contaminate other parts inside or outside of the TMK bag. Follow
the procedure in this bulletin to determine if the sealant is leaking and, if necessary, replace any parts
that have been contaminated. If the sealant has not leaked, replace only the TMK Sealant Cap.

affected part is still under warranty, submit a separate claim using the same repair order. If the
affected part is out of warranty, submit a Prior Approval request for goodwill consideration prior to
performing the work.

Sealant Leakage Inspection & Part Replacement
1.

Open the trunk and check for TMK sealant
leakage near the TMK bag and surrounding
area.

2.

If the luggage isolation pad is contaminated,
remove and discard it.
Refer to Shop Manual:
• Body (Interior and Exterior) > Trunk
Trim > Replacement

3.

Inspect the area under the luggage isolation
pad for contamination and clean as necessary.

Information

In case of leakage outside the TMK bag
and luggage isolation pad:
•

If sealant has hardened, it has rubberlike properties (like an eraser), and
may come off easily by rubbing with a
dry towel.
If the cured sealant does not come
off, rub it with a wet towel for about
1-2 seconds and then rub off with a
dry towel.

NOTICE
Prolonged contact with a wet towel may
spread contamination.

Open the TMK bag to inspect for sealant
leakage.
If no sealant leakage is found, proceed to
TMK Sealant Cap Replacement on page 6.

If there is sealant leakage inside the TMK bag
(see example), discard the entire TMK & Tool
Set.

Install the new TMK & Tool Set.
If TMK sealant leakage contaminated the
luggage isolation pad, replace the luggage
isolation pad.

STUI
Using STUI, take a photo of the new
TMK & Tool set, and the new luggage
isolation pad (if replaced), with the last
6 digits of the VIN and the date of
repair on a piece of paper.
Upload the photo to STUI.

8.

The procedure is now complete.

TMK Sealant Cap Replacement
1.

Remove the sealant bottle from the bag (A).

turning it counterclockwise to reduce the
chance of contents spraying out.
! CAUTION
Wear eye protection when removing cap
to prevent possible injury from contents

Install the new sealant cap (C) by turning it
clockwise.

After installation, confirm that the cap is
tightened properly and securely.

Verify cap is not installed crooked.
Turn sealant container over and check
for leaks.

Information

The ball valve rattle in the sealant cap is
normal.

Use the zip bag (D) from the sealant cap kit to
repackage the sealant bottle.

Insert the bottle into the zip bag and close it.

STUI
Using STUI, take a photo of the
repackaged TMK sealant, showing the
new cap clearly, with the last 6 digits of
the VIN and the date of repair on a
piece of paper.

Upload the photo to STUI.

9.

Put the repackaged sealant in the TMK bag
assembly as shown.
Close the bag and place it back in position in
the vehicle.

10.

The procedure is now complete.
