Software Package Upgrade for EVCC

ISSUE:

Instructions on how to update the EVCC due to a software release from the
Vendor.

SUMMARY:

The following ITS will provide the instruction on how to update the EVCC
module in the field for both Curb side (CS) and Street side (SS).

PROCEDURE:
WARNING: Only trained personnel shall supervise and perform High Voltage system testing,
checkout and troubleshooting. Two personnel (one called the Checker & the other called
Monitor/Recorder) shall perform Checkout Procedures, together, to ensure safety of themselves, others
nearby & for the protection of vehicle & property. Refresher training shall be provided to these personnel
on a regular basis and when new systems are to be checked by them.

Turn the master run switch to the off position and wait 5 minutes before proceeding.
Turn the 12/24V battery disconnect and HV Interlock switch to the “OFF” position.
Lock and tag the electrical system of the bus out and retain the key. See Figure 1.
Use commercially available lockout equipment and tags being sure to follow local regulations.
Install a Lockout/Tagout Steering wheel cover as require.



NOTE: Refer to the Lockout/Tagout Procedure in section 1 of your Preventive Maintenance Manual
or section 9 of your Service manual for additional information.



or workplace procedures.



NOTE: Refer to New Flyer High Voltage Safety Guidelines and Procedures Document 532295
(Appendix A) when completing installation or service work on high voltage power cables.

Note: Addition M12 ethernet cable and software will be provided by TSS. please reach out to TSS
Before the update and the kit will be shipped accordingly.

Location

The CS EVCC is located at the LV fuse box enclosure assembly attached to the inner fuse box door panel. As shown
in figure

2. The SS EVCC is located at behind the LH corner pillar door. You will need the square key to open the
exterior panel, and a short ladder to reach the EVCC M12 port.

How to Upgrade the EVCC
1. Unscrew the ethernet cable protector.
2. Screw in the M12 to ethernet cable.
3. Connect the ethernet cable to your laptop.

4. Power the EVCC and allow it to boot. About 1 minute.
5. On the laptop, open Control Panel and navigate to Network and Internet.

6. Select Network and Sharing Center

7. Click on Change adapter settings.

8. Double click your active Ethernet connection. In the example bellow it is Ethernet 2

9. On the popup window click Properties

10. Double click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

11. For the IP address, enter the information shown in figure 5.
NOTE: Make sure to take a picture of this screen before making any changes. You will restore these values later.

Click OK.
Click OK on the Ethernet Properties popup window.
Close the Ethernet 2 Status popup window.
Open a command prompt by pressing the Window Key + R and type CMD then hit Enter.
Test your connection by typing ping 10.3.0.31.
Run the command:
scp -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no -o UserKnownHostsFile=NUL field_update_1.0.+.tar.gz
[email protected]:/usr/evcc/.evcc_upgrades;

Note: Make sure that the upgrade Zip file is in the same location that the command prompt is pointing to.

18. when asked for a password enter nfi (it may look like you are not typing but you are).

Note: You may get the following error on each new bus you connet to

To resolve this issue, navigate to C:\Users\your user name\.ssh. Open the file known_hosts
in notepad. Delete all lines with the IP address 10.3.0.31 and repeat step 17.
19. The bus should automatically run the system upgrades and reboot when it is complete.
20. Follow steps 5 to 15 to restore your original internet address settings.
21. Replace the ethernet protective cap.
