This Technical bulletin serves as a guide and provides additional diagnostic info for possible DTCs
81151B and 81141B stored in the ORC. BOL required.
MODELS: M240 MC20 and MC20 Cielo (All MY).
SECTION: 07.06 -1 Air Bag System
CONCERN: Airbag warning light on and storage in ORC of DTC 81151B Right curtain airbag - circuit resistance
over the threshold or 81141B Left curtain airbag - circuit resistance over the threshold
ACTION: To allow correct diagnosis and repair, please note that starting from assembly date of September 22nd,
2022 (Chassis 409912) the connecting bridles of the right and left curtain airbags are no longer integrated into the
door panel wiring but provided as a separate component (Component #14 in table 08.60 - 2 MAIN WIRINGS).
This modification avoids any accidental tensioning of the harness when removing the door panel.
Due to this modification, the door panel wiring is no longer involved in the circuit and does not need to be
diagnosed and/or replaced.

SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG MODULE (Component #7 and 8 in table 07.06 - 1 AIR BAG SYSTEM)

DOOR PANEL BRIDLE (Component #14 in table 08.60 - 2 MAIN WIRINGS))

FRONT DOOR HARNESS (Component #14 in table 08.60 - 2 MAIN HARNESS))
For a correct diagnosis of the anomaly, we suggest:
1)
Save a scan report parameter + DTC of the ORC and check the resistance of the airbag circuit relating to
the DTC. The resistance specification is 3 Ohms
2)
Disconnect the 12V Battery (after, wait 5min)
3)
Remove the door panel and visually inspect the wiring, without disconnecting the electrical connections
of the curtain airbag and the Door Panel Bridle and the related wiring. Take pictures of the relevant
connections and any anomalies found on the wiring
4)
Gently move (wiggle test) one at a time first the curtain airbag connector and then the one connecting
the door panel bridle and the door wiring. After each single movement, reconnect the battery and save
the ORC parameters + DTC report again, paying attention to check whether the resistance value of the
circuit has changed
5)
Disconnect the battery again and inspect by disconnecting the curtain airbag connections and the
relative intermediate connection between the door panel bridle and the door wiring.
It is required to open a Blue on Line as Factory Information by providing:
• Evidence of any previous repairs carried out on the door
• Results of the suggested diagnosis
• Indication of any cause found
