Suggested Action: The DCB tube frame can be reinforced along the back of the tongue and above the hangers
to add additional support for loading equipment.
Reason: Customers loading equipment improperly and potentially overweight capacity have caused instances
of damage to the material in the lower frame.
Solution: Upgrade the trailer with frame reinforcement gussets above the hangers and along the back of the
tongue.
Suggested Parts: DCB Upgrade Kit and 1 can of paint.
Estimated Time: 1.5 hours x 2 installers.
Install Instructions:
1. Remove the tires and place the safety prop up.
2. Take the hanger gussets and line each one up on the trailer where they will be welded in place.
Mark the weld locations. See image 2. Note that the hanger gusset will have notches pre-cut to
fit around the hangers and the C shape will face towards the frame with the lip sliding around
the frame. The tongue gusset will have the lip under the frame and a 90-degree L-shaped cutout that slides against the back of the toolbox. See image 4
3. Unplug the wiring for the brakes. See image 5.
4. Prep the weld location.
5. Line the gussets up and run the wiring through the Gussets on both sides.
6. Clamp gussets in place.
7. Use a jack to raise the axle off the spring to make room for the welding tip.
8. Weld hanger gussets in place. See Image 2&3.
9. Weld hose guide/wire protector onto the tongue gusset on the driver's side.
10. Reconnect the wiring for the brakes.
11. Use touch-up paint to cover new welds.
