Purpose
This document outlines the replacement procedures of Serenity lights on the Solera® 2000 Series Awning
product offerings.

This manual provides general instructions. Many variables can change the circumstances of the instructions,
i.e., the degree of difficulty, operation and ability of the individual performing the instructions. This
manual cannot begin to plot out instructions for every possibility, but provides the general instructions,
as necessary, for effectively interfacing with the device, product or system. Failure to correctly follow the
provided instructions may result in death, serious personal injury, severe product and/or property damage,

Preparation
The Serenity lights are a pre-installed option for the Solera Awning and select Solera Awning offerings.
Installation requires the LED wire hemmed into the fabric near the awning rail against the unit's wall.
The original Serenity light came with a harness to attach the light to the unit's power source. The product
was modified and the current Serenity light has the wires directly attached. The unit may have either
depending on the date of manufacture.

Procedures for Drive Arm
\ Serenity Light

Removal
1. Extend the awning to access the Serenity light.
2. Turn off the light switch in the unit.
Make sure the light switch inside the unit is in the off position to prevent electrical damage and/or
personal harm.
NOTE: To reach wire connections and to access the Serenity light connection on the support arm assembly,
a step ladder may be necessary.
3. Locate the wires at the unit wall (Fig. 1) and disconnect the Serenity light wires at the connection point
using best practices (Fig. 2).

4. Remove the wiring from the unit through the support arm assembly back to the Serenity light (Fig. 3);
make note of existing routing.

NOTE: Set aside the plastic tube wire covers (Fig. 3A) for the replacement procedure.
NOTE: It may be helpful to use a non-permanent marking tool (such as a marker or pencil) to indicate
where plastic tubes should be placed when re-installing.
NOTE: Original Serenity light is shown in Figure 3.
5. With the wire pulled up to the light, remove the LED light component from the plastic bezel.
A. Original Serenity Light - If replacing the original Serenity light, the wires are connected to the
light by a harness. Remove the wires at the harness and then remove the light from the bezel with
a putty stick.
B. Current Serenity Light - If replacing the current Serenity light, the wires are ATTACHED to the
light. Remove the light from the bezel with a putty stick and thread the wire out behind the light.

Replacement
1. The new Serenity light will have a connected wire harness. Thread the wire harness through the bezel
and the opening in the outer arm where the light was mounted (Fig. 4A).
2. Install the new LED light into the bezel (Fig. 4B).
3. Run the wire through the plastic tube wire covers (Fig. 4C).
4. Route the wire down the outer arm. The plastic tube wire covers will fit into the channel in the arm to
secure the wire in place as it runs from the light, down the outer arm, up the inner arm, and to the wall.
NOTE: Be very mindful to give the wire some slack while running the wiring down the outer arm and up
the inner arm to the wall to make sure that the wiring will not pinch or shear as the awning extends
and retracts.

NOTE: If the power wires are connected at the bottom of mount arm the wire lead will need to run down
the mount arm and over the pin where the pitch arm and gas strut meet.
5. Using best electrical practices connect the Serenity light lead wire at the triple connection point for the
power wire (Fig. 6A), wire routed through the fabric (Fig. 5A) to the idler side and the Serenity Light in
the drive arm (Fig. 6B).
NOTE: Make sure the black wire is connected to a ground and the red wire is connected to a positive 12V
DC power source.

Notes For Drive Side Replacement
Typically, removing and reconnecting the wiring needs for the Serenity lights to the unit's power will occur
at the top (Fig. 7A) of the drive mount arm as that is where the power wiring will be coming through the
unit wall. However, sometimes the power will be coming from the bottom (Fig. 7B) of the drive mount arm.
Before starting procedure, take note where the power wiring is coming; the top or the bottom of the Drive
mount arm.

NOTE: If power wiring is coming from the TOP of
the Drive arm mount, this procedure is NOT
necessary.
NOTE: If power wiring IS coming from the BOTTOM
of the Drive arm mount, these steps ARE
NECESSARY.
1. Extend the awning out.
2. Using the replacement light, route the wiring from the Serenity placement on the outer arm, down
the elbow of outer and inner arm, up the inner arm to the wall, and then down from the top to power
wiring at the bottom of the mount arm (Fig. 7B). This gives a loose measurement of how much wire
and wire slack is needed to successfully route the harness.
3. Set aside replacement light making note of needed wiring length.
4. Retract the awning.
5. Depending on unit and skill level of person(s) completing procedure, either:
A. Disconnect existing light wiring and thread wiring out the top of mount arm, or
B. Remove mount arm entirely and disconnect Serenity light wiring from wall.
6. Once disconnected from power, then the original light can be removed and the current Serenity light
can be installed.
A. If threading method was done, follow other procedures and thread the replacement light down to
bottom wiring.
B. If arm was removed, reinstall arm with replacement light harness behind the arm and running
to the top. Once arm is installed and wire is accessible, follow procedure to remove the original
Serenity light and install the replacement light.

Removal

using best practices (Fig. 9).

4. Remove the wiring from the unit through the support arm assembly back to the Serenity light (Fig. 10);
make note of existing routing.

5. With the wire pulled up to the light, remove the LED light component from the plastic bezel.
A. Original Serenity Light - If replacing the original Serenity light, the wires are connected to the
light by a harness. Remove the harness and then remove the light from the bezel with a putty
stick.
B. Current Serenity Light - If replacing the current Serenity light, the wires are ATTACHED to the
light. Remove the light from the bezel with a putty stick and thread the wire out behind the light.
Replacement
1. The replacement light will have a connected wire lead. Route the wire lead through the light bezel and
the opening in the outer arm where the light was mounted (Fig. 11A).

2. Install the replacement light into the bezel (Fig. 11B).
3. Route the wire through the plastic tube wire covers (Fig. 11C).

4. Route the wire down the outer arm. The plastic wire covers will fit into the channel in the arm to secure
the wire in place. The harness runs from the light, down the outer arm, up the inner arm,
and into the wall.
NOTE: Give the wire some slack while routing the wiring down the outer arm and up the inner arm to the
wall to make sure that the wiring will not pinch or shear, as the awning extends and retracts.
NOTE: If the power wires are connected at the bottom of the mount arm, the wire harness will need to run
down the mount arm and over the pin where the pitch arm and gas strut meet.
5. Using best electrical practices connect the Serenity wiring harness at the connection point for the
power wire (Fig. 12). The wire is routed through the fabric (Fig. 13) from the idler side to
the drive side (Fig. 14).
NOTE: Make sure the black wire is connected to a ground and the red wire is connected to a positive 12V
DC power source.
