GranTurismo – Air Springs Replacement

Certain Maserati GranTurismo (M189) MY24 listed in MODISCS+ are involved in a Rapid Update
to replace the front shock absorbers with a newly designed aluminum version.
This Rapid Update has been released to update vehicles that already had the action completed
per RUs 658, 669, and 684. The part numbers specified in those bulletins have been replaced with
the newly introduced aluminum-type design shock absorbers outlined in this bulletin. If you
currently possess any of the part numbers listed in those bulletins (658, 669, and 684) we kindly
request that you follow the procedures detailed in this bulletin for scrapping them urgently. The
cost of the component will be refunded by opening a Claim on Modis with "Replacement Shock
Absorber campaign“ as the reason. Please refer to pages 4 and 5 for Parts and warranty claim
instructions.
Rapid Updates 658, 669, and 684 vin list will continue to remain active in Modis for vehicles that
have NOT yet had the action completed. The part numbers specified in those bulletins have
been replaced with the newly introduced aluminum-type design shock absorbers outlined in
bulletin MAS004104.
We remind you that all Rapid Updates must be carried out when the vehicle first enters the
workshop, regardless of the Mandatory setting set in Modis, as required by Maserati policies.
Furthermore, for cars in Dealer/PDI Stock, it is necessary to carry out all campaign operations
before delivery to the end customer, as prescribed by the White Book and explicitly reported in
the Pre-delivery checklist.

PHASE 1 The parts with PNs 670303906 and 670303902, identifiable by their blue marking, were utilized.
Regrettably, it has come to our attention that these parts were not as durable as anticipated. If you
currently have any of these items in your inventory, we urgently request that you proceed with scrapping
them.

PHASE 2 Starting from September 2023, new part numbers 670309018 and 670309015 were introduced,
incorporating various improvements. However, despite these enhancements, certain anomalies were still
observed.

•

NOW: New aluminum types are available "670311029/33" Only these PN must be used.

Technical Procedure
1. Always check ModisCS+ to see if the vehicle is involved in this action and if it has not been
previously performed.
2. Disconnect the battery, following the procedure in the workshop manual.
a. 08.20.001 - BATTERY - Connection/disconnection of the electric power supply
3. Replace the complete shock absorber, following the relative procedure in the workshop manual.
a. 6.11.001 RH FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER. Removal-Refitting or Replacement
b. 6.11.002 LH FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER. Removal-Refitting or Replacement
NOTE: The shock absorber replacement procedure requires the use of a special tool (PN 900029760 to
check the position of the suspension arms. See workshop manual for more info)

FOR THIS ACTION ONLY: Although the workshop manual states to replace the "Upper lever screw," it is not
necessary for this action. See the Spare Parts Table on page 4 of this bulletin for components to be replaced.

4. Proceed with restoring all the removed components, following the procedures in the reverse
order of the removal sequence.

The purpose of This test is to verify the correct installation of the new front shock absorbers.
6. Carry out the check on every vehicle that has had its shock absorbers worked on or replaced.
To simulate a probative test situation, the Lock-to-Lock maneuver must be performed in the
morning after leaving the vehicle parked overnight.
7. Carry out a "Lock to Lock" maneuver. Starting with the steering wheel centered and wheels
pointing straight ahead. Then turn the steering wheel completely to the right until reaching
the end of its travel. Wait 30 seconds (while visually monitoring ride height) and repeat the
operation by turning the steering wheel all the way to the left, always reaching the end of
its travel.
NOTE: A video labeled “lock_to_lock.mp4” demonstrating the procedure is included with
this bulletin attached separately in MODIS.
8. Perform the test with an assistant outside the vehicle who can observe any small amount of
lowering from the exterior. Make sure the vehicle has not sagged.

9. Repeat the test at least 3-4 times.

10. INSPECTION RESULTS:
•

OK ► NO lowering of the vehicle occurred, the procedure is finished. No further action
needed.

•

NOT OK ► Lowering of the vehicle occurred. Open BOL as “FACTORY INFORMATION”
attach a video and pictures of the parts label and blue mark, and await further
instructions.

11. Procedure complete. Continue with the Lock-to-Lock cycle on the next page.
