Oil Supply Filter Replacement When Replacing The Turbocharger Or The Turbocharger Oil Supply Tube
For vehicles equipped with turbocharged engines, when diagnosing and/or replacing turbo related
concerns, all steps within the Workshop Manual (WSM) procedure must be followed including
replacement of all mandatory discarded parts. When specified in the WSM, the turbocharger oil supply
filter must be replaced whenever the turbocharger or the turbocharger oil supply tube are replaced (see
examples below). Turbocharger bearing failure may occur if oil starvation occurs due to a restricted
filter. In addition, turbocharger oil supply filters are considered one-time-use parts (OTUP) and the
warranty claim can be adjusted or denied if not replaced when required in the WSM. Refer to EFC13236.

Workshop Manual vs FDRS terminology
2023-2024 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit various concerns with the
selective catalytic reductant system and/or glow plug system. The Workshop Manual (WSM) refers to
the control module for these systems as a glow dosing module (GDM). Due to OBD functionality, the
GDM is referred to as the SOBDMC (secondary OBD control module) in the scan tool.

Leaf Spring Noise Concerns
Some vehicles equipped with leaf springs may exhibit a clunk, squeak, or rattle type noise from the rear
of the vehicle over bumps and/or when turning. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 204-00,
Diagnosis & Testing. Through analysis of returned parts, many vehicles could have been repaired
without replacement of the leaf spring. Some areas to highlight:
Leaf spring tip isolators (if equipped
Many returned parts are contaminated and once cleaned, noise is eliminated. Inspect the rear leaf
spring tip isolator(s) for dirt and contamination. Pressure wash the leaf springs between the individual
spring leafs, gaps between the spring bushings, mounting brackets and shackles to remove any trapped
debris. Use compressed (shop) air to remove any remaining debris and to completely dry between all
the individual spring components. Verify symptom is not present. If still present replace tip insert.
To avoid the re-occurrence of noise, make sure that all contamination and moisture trapped between
the individual leaf spring components have been completely removed.

Leaf spring tip isolators are available and can be ordered if they are damaged. Refer to the WSM,
Section 204-02.
Proper care and cleaning instructions can be found in the Owner’s Manual under Vehicle Care, Cleaning
the Underbody:
Flush the complete underside of the vehicle frequently. Keep body and door drain holes free from
packed dirt. Rear suspension components may require regular cleaning with a power washer or a
thorough rinse with a strong stream of water if the vehicle is operated in dusty or muddy environments.
Rear leaf springs or other suspension components may exhibit squeaking or popping noises while
operating the vehicle if particles, such as dirt, rocks, or other debris, are present in the components.
