SITUATION
The following fault is stored in the DME during the pre-delivery inspection (PDI, aka Quality Certification 1,
QC1):
224123 – Coolant pump for low-temperature cooling circuit, internal test: Blockage detected

CAUSE
G60 vehicles that are stationary for extended periods could have a blocking issue with the electric auxiliary
coolant pump.
This blocking could be temporary or permanent.

CORRECTION
Clear the fault memory and perform a start-up of the coolant pump to verify the correct function of the pump.

PROCEDURE
Follow this ISTA path for the start-up of Coolant pump 5 after any faults are cleared.
Vehicle Management/Troubleshooting/Function Structure:
Powertrain
Petrol engine
Engine cooling
Coolant pump 5
ABL Coolant pump 5

Perform the test for at least one minute. Read out the fault memory.
If fault 224123 is not stored: The fault was not permanent; no further diagnosis/repair is required.
If fault 224123 is stored again: Replace the electric auxiliary coolant pump.

what was drained. The one-gallon concentrate part number is at a quantity for a 50/50 coolant/water
solution.
