1. Warranty Key USJ “GEN 3 Phase 2B Repair Kit” is present in ELSA.
2. 23Y8 closed in ELSA with only Step 2A performed according to Service History, or vehicle has
received a GEN 3 Phase 2B Repair Kit prior to 40,000 miles (automatic) or 70,000 miles (manual).
3. The vehicle has accumulated more than 70,000 miles, and the customer requests replacement of the
Emissions Control Module (DOC/DPF/SCR).

Technical Background
Some vehicles were part of the TDI Buyback and Remarketing program and received only the Step 2A
portion of the 23Y8 Action. Customers purchasing these vehicles are entitled to a no-charge replacement
of the Emissions Control Module (DOC/DPF/SCR) once the vehicle accumulates more than 70,000 miles.

• Replace Emissions Control Module
(DOC/SCR/DPF):
Inspect for TDI Emissions Modification
– Proof of Completion Label:
• If label is not present, install TDI Recall
Proof of Completion Label.

•
• Clean a painted surface on the
underside of the hood surface next to
the existing supplemental Vehicle
Emission Control Information Label or
Proof of Partial Completion Label
where the Proof of Completion Label is
to be installed.
• Fill out completely the Recall Code,
Dealer Code, and Repair Date and
affix the label. Label must NOT cover
any existing label(s).
• Apply clear overlay (provided on
bottom of the label backer).
