FRONT STRUT BEARING & SPRING PAD REPLACEMENT

This bulletin provides information to replace the front strut bearing and upper spring pad on both front (LH
and RH) strut assemblies on certain 2019-2024MY Forte (BDm) vehicles produced from July 09, 2018 through
present, 2020-2024MY Soul (SK3) vehicles produced from November 15, 2018 through present, and 20212024 Seltos (SP2) vehicles produced from November 20, 2019 through present. The affected vehicles may
exhibit an intermittent noise when turning the steering wheel both when driving and when the vehicle is not
in motion. Follow the procedure outlined in this publication to replace both front (LH and RH) strut bearing
and upper spring pad on the applicable vehicle.

Replacement Procedure:
1.

Remove the front strut assembly (A), both left
and right side, by referring to “Suspension
System → Front Suspension System → Front
Strut Assembly/Front Strut Complete → Repair
Procedures (Removal and Installation)” in the

2.

Disassemble one of the front strut assemblies
(A) by referring to “Suspension System → Front

Note: SST 09546 3X100 is required to loosen
the self locking nut (B). DO NOT reuse the
removed locking nut (discard after removal).

3.

Replace the strut bearing (C) and the spring
pad (D) with the new parts.

Note: INSTALL a ‘new’ locking nut (B).
Tightening torque for locking nut (B):
39.8 – 54.2 lb.ft (53.9 – 73.5 N.m)

4.

Repeat steps 2-3 for the opposite side strut.

5.

Reassemble all removed parts in the reverse

Confirm normal vehicle operation and that the
noise is no longer present when turning the
steering wheel.
