SERVICE ACTION: Inspect – Remove – Replace Tire Sealant Canister
Perform the procedure outlined in this Technical Service Bulletin on all affected vehicles before
customer delivery.
In the event the customer already has possession of a vehicle affected by this action, please perform
the procedure the next time the vehicle is scheduled for a Service.
Affected Vehicles:
All Fisker Ocean models produced prior to October 25, 2023, (as of VIN VCF1EBU23PG008754) will
require a canister replacement or check for installation of an updated canister.
Complaint:
Tire sealant material may leak from the Tire Sealant Canister.
•

In some cases, the sealant may leak out of the protective bag and into the Styrofoam partition
compartment located below the rear cargo area.

•

Customer will not be able to use the tire sealant system, in the event a flat tire with a minor
“sealable” link is encountered.

Cause:
Tire sealant material may leak from the Tire Sealant Canister.

Correction: Tire Sealant Canister improvement
All canisters installed into vehicles manufactured before OCTOBER 25, 2023 (as of VIN
VCF1EBU23PG008754) may present a potential to leak from the sealant canisters yellow cap.
Internal the container will present a volume difference due to temperature change, generating a
vacuum which sucks the anti-leak cap from this fixed position.
All canisters will be replaced with a newly revised yellow cap with modified internal sealing cap and
additional plugs to prevent leakage.
Revised canister yellow cap will include the following:

Additional plugs (black and yellow) on external yellow sealant cap (Fig. 2 & 3).
Revised internal sealing cap.
Revised part number on container (FM292070001038BDEV - Fig. 4) or green dot on the
outside of the bag for early replacement canisters.
User instruction

Updated bottle label with new reference number and QR Code.

• Confirm that a revised canister is already installed
• Updated Part Number or green dot on bag and yellow cap has plugs on each end
Leaked Canister Handling:
The fluid inside the canister is classified as nonhazardous in accordance with regulation 29 CFR
1910.1200 (d). If a leak into the partition or other portion of the storage are encountered, Fisker
recommend the following:
•

Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing.
Ensure adequate ventilation to the leaked area.
Use correct personal protective clothes (protective gloves resistant to chemicals, long sleeves,
& safety glasses).
Do not discharge or flush the filling of the container into the drains, surface, water,
groundwater, or sanitary sewer system.
Use an absorbent material or pad to assist in the cleanup of the liquid sealant and dispose of
the saturated material in compliance with local regulation.
Wash your hand immediately after handling the leaked sealant and/or cleaning.

Impacted Vehicles:
All Fisker Ocean models produced prior to October 25, 2023, (as of VIN VCF1EBU23PG008754 ) will
require a canister replacement.
In addition to canister replacement, vehicles will require a visual inspection for any leaked fluid inside
the trunk compartment & trunk partition box.
If sealant has gotten outside of the canister packaging (plastic bag), technician should attempt to
clean up the leak if possible or replace the trunk partition box if the leak sealant has congealed and/or
been absorbed into the Styrofoam partition.
Disposal of Removed Canisters:
Dispose of all removed “old” sealant canisters in accordance with local regulations.

Procedure:
Tire Sealant Canister Leak Cleaning

Required Tools:
1.

Protective latex gloves

2. Long sleeves
3. Safety glasses
4. Absorbent material (Cloth, sand, silica gel, universal binder, etc.)
5. Dry cloths
6. Any cleaning detergent (not solvent)
7. Portable vacuum (if needed)

Steps to correct cleaning in case of trunk leakage:
1. Open the liftgate.
2. Access the storage compartment under the rear cargo.

3. Remove the sealant canister from the partition box.

4. Inspect if leaked sealant is inside the partition box. If there is no liquid in the partition box
proceed to step 9.

5. Remove everything from inside the partition box.
NOTE: If the amount of sealant that has leaked out of the canister and plastic bag is significant
or has been absorbed into the partition tray or has congealed then:
-

Take a picture of the issue and attach it to the Work Order.
Ignore the cleaning process of step 6,7 & 8 and replace with a new partition box;
a picture will be needed to justify the replacement.

6. If the amount of sealant that has leaked out of the canister and plastic bag is minimal:
use an absorbent material or pad to assist in the cleanup of the liquid sealant and dispose of
the saturated material or pad in compliance with local regulation.
7. Use a vacuum, if any absorbent material such as sand or silica gel was used to absorb the
sealant, to clean up the material.
8. With a dry cloth and mild cleaning agent, clean the rest of the partition box, especially in the
areas where the leaked fluid has dried or was not removable in the prior step.
9. Replace the tire sealant bottle and reinstall all components that were removed.
The Partition box material has the property to absorb the liquid if exposed for a prolonged amount of
time, leading to a possibility of spreading the liquid sealant into other areas of the storage area
requiring additional clean-up
Disposal of Bottles:
Dispose of the cannisters in accordance with local regulations.
