In Tech Talk 263 we reviewed best practices when making Air Conditioning
System repairs. MMNA is still seeing a large number of Warranty claims
where the A/C compressor is replaced, but the Receiver Assembly (Drier) is
not replaced.

When replacing the A/C compressor, it is essential to replace the Receiver
Assembly. In a matter of minutes, when the system is opened and exposed
to outside air, the drier will become saturated with moisture from the
humidity of the outside air. Not only is the saturation of moisture by the
drier a possible cause of future system failures, some models like the
Eclipse Cross for example have a screen on the inlet side of the Receiver
Assembly to filter out debris. When debris is present in the screen, a
restriction can occur on the high-pressure side of the system resulting in a
difficult to diagnose A/C concern or compressor failure.

Part Information: MZ315203
Concern:
When diagnosing crossbar wind noise, check for the presence and/or proper position of the
Crossbar Rubber Strips. Typically, excessive wind noise is caused from missing Crossbar
Rubber Strips. These components are now available, so the entire crossbar kit does not need
to be ordered. Please reference Part Bulletin RFRK-RPL-2011-2024.

CROSSBAR RUBBER STRIP INSTALLATION:
HOW TO MANUALLY OPEN A POWER LIFTGATE
Affected Vehicles: 2022-2024 Outlander
If the power liftgate cannot be opened due to a discharged battery or other reason, the
Owner’s Manual describes a manual procedure. The process involves removing a small trim
cover located on the rear liftgate trim panel to gain access to the emergency release lever.
The lever is located in the latch as indicated in the photo and illustration below:

DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
Affected Vehicles: 2022-2024 Outlander
During diagnosis of the Driver Assistance System, some technicians have found the
Distance Sensor Bracket deformed or bent. Be sure and check for damage to the external
surface of the bumper and grille which might result in deformation of the bracket as the
bumper flexes to absorb a low speed impact.
A visual inspection can easily be performed by looking at the bracket located below the
hood latch. Photos of the bumper area can be submitted via Product Quality Report, or
through a Tech Line case. Warranty determination can be verified by your DPSM.

Cruise Control Inop after Engine ECU Update SC-23-001/P1564-00
Affected Vehicles: 2022-2023 Outlander
Customers may report the Cruise Control does not operate after Engine ECU Update
(SC-23-001) with P1564-00 present.
The most common cause is the Engine ECU has been programmed to the incorrect software
version. Check the Monroney Label and determine if the vehicle is AWC or 2WD, has Cruise
Control, ACC or MiPilot and ACC, then reference: MDL > service > service tech resources >
2022 and newer Outlander Programming Reference Table:
Once the software is identified, manually update and retest.

Spare Part Information: Part Number Change for the Tailgate Latch
If a customer unintentionally operates the tailgate
opener switch twice (or more), the tailgate may be
partially unlatched and subsequently fail to open or
close properly.
To prevent this phenomenon, the structure of the
tailgate latch has been changed.

Spare Part Information: Changing the Front Leather Seat Cushion Cover
Changes to the leather seat cushion cover have been made for the following issues:
1. Change of material where the seat cover (PVC) and the seat side shield cover
(Resin) meet (from PVC to stitching) to prevent squeaking noise.
2. Density change in the laminate material of the semi-aniline leather seat cushion
cover to increase rigidity and prevent deformation.

Precautions: Tips for installing the Front Bumper (Page 1 of 2)
When the front bumper is installed on the vehicle, the
headlamp washer hose may interfere with the air guide
panels, causing the panels to deform. To prevent this
phenomenon, the air guide panels will be modified to
enhance robustness from around January 2024.
This article introduces the precautions for the
installation of the front bumper.

the air guide panels.

To improve the front bumper assembly process between September 2023 and January
2024, adhesive tape will be applied to the lower part of the air guide panels.

Adhesive Tape Notes:
1. The air guide panels can be reused even if the adhesive tape is not sticky.
2. The addition of adhesive tape is limited to components during factory installation, so
the adhesive tape is not applied to the spare parts.
Please install the front bumper as described on the previous page (1 of 2) to prevent
deformation of the air guide panels.

General Information: Message is displayed when using Android Auto
For vehicles equipped with SDA2, a message “PRE-PRODUCTION HARDWARE NOT FOR
RESALE” may appear when the Android Auto function is used.
This message can appear when Android smartphones identify the SDA2 as a device that
is not on the Google-certified list. However, this is not an SDA2 failure since the SDA2 has
been certified by Google. There is a possibility that smartphones may be erroneously
recognizing the SDA2.
