Release of DiagnosticLink® 8.19

SUBJECT DETAIL
On Thursday, December 7, 2023, DiagnosticLink® 8.19 will be available for download from
the ordering system. Current subscribers of DiagnosticLink® 8.xx can upgrade to
DiagnosticLink® 8.19 at no cost. All DTNA service shops are required to maintain the latest
version of software on each of their stations.

IMPORTANT
Due to back-end system enhancements, DiagnosticLink® 8.16 and 8.17 will be sunset on
Tuesday, January 12, 2024. It is imperative to upgrade to DiagnosticLink® 8.18 or later to
maintain a working copy of DiagnosticLink®.
This release supports the following new features and updates:

Previously included as part of the client tool package installer, the help file will now
be downloaded from the server when the tool is initially installed, and a server
connection is established. The tool can be used while the help file downloads,
similarly to how the troubleshooting manuals and downloaded.
New Proximity Sensor panel added to monitor and troubleshoot the Obstacle
Proximity Sensor Rear (OPSR01T).
The Trailer Lights panel has been removed for eM2 (not applicable).
The HV Battery State of Health panel has been improved to display the correct list of
Battery Management Systems (BMS).
The Isolation Resistance Measurement panel has been improved to display the
correct number of BMS.
The DC/DC Converter panel has been improved to display the correct number of DC
Charger (DCB)/BMS
The eTransmission Oil Pump Controls panel has been improved to display the
correct number of visible oil pumps.
Issue resolved where the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) Side Radar
Calibration would fail for certain vehicles.
The warning message for individual troubleshooting manuals have been removed
and replaced for one generic message.
The Enable MVCI Server checkbox has been added to DiagnosticLink® Professional
via the Tools > Options > Server menu.
The override of display precision is allowed where diagnostic instrument panel data is
inappropriate for aftersales use cases.

The Dyno Mode panel includes revisions.
The Temperature and Speed Monitors include revisions.
An eMobility Cruise Control panel has been added.
An ePTO Diagnostic Instrument panel has been added for eMobility (eP4/eM2)
diagnostics.
A Low Voltage Instrument panel has been added.
The Inverter Resolver Learn Procedure service routine panel has been modified. The
number of resolver learn routines displayed is dynamically set by the number of
Electric Motors (EmotNum parameter).
The eDrive Temperature and Speed Monitoring instrument panel has been modified.
The number of motors and inverters displayed is dynamically set by the number of
Electric Motors (EmotNum parameter) and the number of inverters.
The HV Battery Safe to Ship instrument panel include revisions. The number of
resolver learn routines displayed is dynamically set by the number of Electric Motors
(EmotNum parameter). The throughput of each battery is calculated and displayed.
An AC Clutch Function instrument panel has been added for M2+.
An EMG MSC Switch inputs panel has been added.
The HVIL Interlock instrument panel includes revisions. Instruments now dynamically
display based on configuration.
A warning display has been added for routines that have high exhaust temperature.
The High Voltage Measurement panel includes revisions to display the correct
number of BMS and inverters.
The CBF files have been updated for powertrain, chassis, EMG powertrain,
ECPCo1T for R23.3 final 2, and SAS03T.

Features.
IMPORTANT POLICY UPDATE
Due to the complexity and increased number of logical controllers, it is necessary to
update the tool release policy. In the past, DiagnosticLink® was supported up to two
versions back. Starting with the release of DiagnosticLink® 8.19 in November 2023,
only one version back (e.g., DiagnosticLink® 8.18) will be supported until the next full
release. All earlier versions such as v8.15 through v8.17) will be obsoleted.

Please inform all service locations and fleet customers to plan in preparation for the
upcoming policy update and implementation. Failing to update to the latest or supported
version of DiagnosticLink® may result in the application becoming unusable and affect
vehicle uptime.
UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS
TSS workstations will be automatically updated. No action required.
NOTE: You must have a current DiagnosticLink® subscription to upgrade to version
8.19 at no cost. Administrative rights required.
1. Disconnect any interface devices from the computer USB port, such as the Nexiq USBLink cable.
2. Uninstall the previous version of DiagnosticLink®, such as version 8.17 or 8.18, from
Windows Apps & Features.
3. Login to https://DiagnosticLink.nexiq.com.
4. Select ‘My Account’ and ‘My Downloads’.
5. Select the ‘download DiagnosticLink® 8.19’ button.
6. Save the installation file to the desktop.
7. Open the installation file.
8. Follow setup guide to complete the installation.
