What’s New
Abstract

Safety Recall
On certain Kenworth K270/K370 chassis equipped with Dana
SPL100 drivelines, the driveline tube seam weld may separate
or tear under certain stress loads, resulting in driveline
separation and sudden loss of drive power, which in turn may
increase the risk of a crash. Repair parts and repair procedure
are now available.

and K370 chassis built from 8/29/22 through 10/05/22 equipped
with Dana SPL100 drivelines with suspect driveline serial
numbers.

Safety Recall
Service all chassis affected that enter your dealership, even if
the customer has no issue with the chassis.
1. Review the attached chassis list for your dealer code
and schedule your customer(s) for service if their chassis
is on the list.
2. In Service Management, select Campaign 23KWG to
add it to the case. If the unit is released back into service
without performing the repair, make sure to also release
the Campaign in Service Management.
3. If you are not using Service Management to start repair
orders, review SIR for “Complete” next to the 23KWG
campaign code prior to performing this repair.
4. Follow the repair procedures attached in the Links
section.

KENWORTH WARRANTY STATEMENT
There is no time or mileage limit for this recall.
Kenworth will pay for parts at dealer net plus applicable mark-up
and labor:


1.7 hours to replace both driveshafts (without painting)

3.9 hours to replace both driveshafts (including prep

File the claim within 14 days in accordance with
Warranty Policy CA009.

Question for warranty approver: Has Take-Off Parts Disposition been
confirmed? Does the supplier warranty matrix match the bulletin?
Take-Off Parts Disposition: Destroy take-off parts so that they
cannot be reused or put back into service, as soon as possible.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Kenworth Truck Company has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain model year 2023 Kenworth
K270/K370 vehicles manufactured from 08/29/22 through 10/05/22 equipped with Dana SPL100 drivelines.
On certain Kenworth K270/K370 chassis equipped with Dana SPL100 drivelines, the driveline tube seam weld may separate or tear
under certain stress loads, resulting in driveline separation and sudden loss of drive power, which in turn may increase the risk of a
crash.
Kenworth has initiated a recall to remedy the defect. Parts and repair procedures are now available. Please contact your Kenworth
dealer. To find your Kenworth dealer, please visit www.Kenworth.com. This repair may take up to 4.0 Hours of labor depending on
vehicle configuration and dealer scheduling. This repair will be performed at no charge to you.
The problem is…

The driveline tube seam weld may separate or tear under certain stress loads,
resulting in driveline separation and sudden loss of drive power.
