Q. How does the Lippert Liquid Propane Sensor work?
A. +The sensor attaches to the underside of the propane cylinder (aka “bottle” or “tank”) with magnets.
+ The sensor reads propane levels by sending an ultrasound signal up through the cylinder.
+ The sensor connects via Bluetooth® to any compatible smart device on which the OneControl®,
Compass Connect®, Lippert Connect™ or OneControl® Bluetooth® app is installed and open.
+ The sensor provides information to the user through the app.
+ Features on the app allow for naming each sensor, allowing multiple sensors to be installed and
used simultaneously.
+ The app allows a user to choose a 20 Ib, 30 Ib or 40 Ib vertical cylinder. Choosing the right cylinder
size is essential for accuracy and optimum performance. 3.7kg and 8.5 kg are enabled as options for
Australia and New Zealand. A user may also enter a custom cylinder size by selecting “arbitrary.”
+ The apps are available in the Apple® iOS and Android™ App Stores.
Q. How does it measure propane level?
A. + The Sensor sends an ultrasound signal up through the cylinder.
+ The Sensor then analyzes and measures the echo coming back from the top of the liquid.
+ From this echo, and with information provided by the user in the Settings section of the app related
to the cylinder’s size, the sensor calculates how much propane is available.
Q. What does it measure?
A. +The sensor measures the level of liquid in the cylinder.
° The sensor does not measure by weight or density.
+ The ultrasound technology "sees" the level of the liquid, then reports it to the user in the app.
Q. How accurate is it?
A. +The sensor is extremely accurate - to within 1%, provided the cylinder’s parameters are properly
inputted in the Settings section of the app.
+ For accurate readings, it is important to place the sensor at the center of the cylinder’s underside. This
allows the ultrasound signal to shoot straight up.
Q. Isit affected by temperature?
A. + The accuracy of the sensor is not affected by ambient temperature.
+ Temperature affects pressure. It does not affect propane volume or the measurement of volume.
° Propane is a liquid, meaning that it settles to the bottom of the cylinder.
° When ambient temperatures are low, a user may not get full pressure from a cylinder even if the
Sensor shows ~99% full.
° When colder temperatures are present, keeping the cylinder warm will maintain pressure.
