Background
Established procedures for draining and replacing EPA21-compliant PACCAR MX series engine fuel filters
MUST be followed. Failure to follow the correct procedures results in debris or contaminants in the high-
pressure fuel system. These contaminants can cause drivability symptoms and/or fuel system faults or damage.

Fuel filters on EPA21 MX series engines MUST be drained and removed using the procedures above. Failure to
properly drain the fuel filters will result in debris and contaminants entering the high-pressure fuel system.
Warranty claims for damage to and troubleshooting of a contaminated high pressure fuel system could be
denied based on investigation of contaminates found in components such as injectors, pumps, or valves.
This procedure has been included in current PACCAR MxX certification training.
