The airbag control unit self-test may be susceptible to alarm horn resonance during the self-test causing
the airbag light to illuminate in the instrument panel.

Note:
A charger with at least 70A charging current MUST be used in order to avoid problems during
software updates and flash campaign/actions.
Sequence of operations:
Note:
This software update has to be carried out by an authorized workshop. In some cases supplementary,
vehicle specific literature is required. Incorrect handling may lead to damage to the vehicle.
It must be ensured that the open-circuit voltage of the battery is at least 12.5 Volts. To maintain the
onboard voltage during the complete procedure, connect a MTRMSP0702 battery maintainer/charger.
Neither diagnostic nor any other operations may be performed with the diagnostic tester during the
software update.
The activation code, the activation number and the activation pin are required for software
actualization. For this data, refer to the software certificate enclosed.
Subject to technical modifications.
If the ignition is replaced, connect the vehicle diagnostic tester and then identify the vehicle.
After querying the control units, select the “Special Functions” and then sequentially the following menu
options:
Software version management
Adapting Software
Perform conversion / Activation Document” (comes in the Box)
After activation, the online connection is established and the software update carried out.
After successful activation, restart the infotainment system (press the On/Off switch of the infotainment
system for more than 10 seconds).
End Guided troubleshooting.
Disconnect the connection to the diagnostic tester.
Once alarm kit is installed, replace airbag control module.

1.1 Installing the contact switch -F266-
1. Remove the old and install the new hatch lock.
See repair group 55 in Elsa.
2. Pull the pin connector -1- for the contact switch
through the installation bay for the hatch lock.
3. Lay the wires for the contact switch parallel to the
control wire or hatch lock.
Note:
The anti-theft warning system connection to the
vehicle wiring harness is located in the engine
compartment on the cooler intake near the left
headlight.
The connections for the anti-theft warning system
are protected against moisture by adhesive tape.
4. Connect the pin connector -1- to the anti-theft warning system connection.
5. Secure the wire for the contact switch to the existing holders or vehicle wiring using the supplied cable
ties.
1.2 Retrofitting the alarm horn -H12- for the anti-theft alarm system
1. Mount the alarm horn -1- included in the scope of
delivery in the middle of the vehicles plenum
chamber using the supplied fasteners -2-. See
repair group 96 in Elsa. Connect the plug -3- of the
supplied adapter cable to the alarm horn.
2. Remove the dummy stop from the vehicle’s plug arrow- in the plenum chamber and connect the free
plug of the adapter cable.
3. Secure the wire for the alarm horn to the existing
holders or vehicle wiring using the supplied cable
ties.

1.3 Retrofitting relay for the anti-theft alarm system
1. Plug the relay included in the scope of delivery in
slot 1 of the relay carrier on the driver side -arrow-.
1.4 Uploading the vehicle software
Connect the diagnostic tool VAS 6150/X & VAS 6160/X and ODIS Service with current online updates
to the vehicle. See repair group 97 in Elsa.
Select the operating mode “Guided Trouble Finding” and then the respective vehicle within the vehicle
diagnostics, measurement and information system VAS 6150/X & VAS 6160/X and ODIS Service with
current online.
After querying the control units, select the “Functions/component selection” via the button “Jump” and
then sequentially the following options:
-Software version management
- Adapting software
- Perform conversion / retrofit
Enter the 5 character action code “35CBE”
After the code is entered the online connection is created and the software update is carried out.
After updating the software, disconnect the vehicles diagnostics, measurement and information
system VAS 6150/X & VAS 6160/X and ODIS Service with current online updates and perform a
function test of the anti-theft alarm system.

1.1 Access to plenum chamber:
Remove the wiper arms with wiper puller T10369/1
Remove seal (4) from the plenum chamber covers (1) and (2)
Lift off the plenum chamber covers (1) and (2), starting at the edge of the windshield using your
hands. Work your hands along the windshield and then along the sides to the retainer (6)
Remove the driver side plenum cover forward and then away from the car
Remove the bracket that holds the lines for the spray nozzles from the passenger side plenum cover
