Peterbilt has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety may exist in certain 2022 and 2023 Model Year 579 MLU trucks built from
04/26/2021 through 07/29/2022 equipped with a PACCAR MX-13 engine and a PACCAR 160-amp alternator. The alternator positive cable may chafe
against the left-hand side, front spring bracket, top rearward fastener, if the fastener was installed with the head on the outside of the frame rail. Chafing of
the alternator positive cable insulation may result in an increased risk of a fire.
What is the problem?
The alternator positive cable may chafe against the left-hand side, front spring bracket, top
rearward fastener, if the fastener was installed with the head on the outside of the frame rail.
Chafing of the alternator positive cable insulation may result in an increased risk of a fire.
What will your dealer do?
Replace fastener that is the source of chafing, inspect the alternator wire and replace if wire is
damaged beyond acceptable limits.
What should you do?
Please contact your dealer immediately to schedule this repair.
Peterbilt Motors Company has initiated this safety recall to remedy the issue with no charge to you. Your dealer will replace the fastener that is chafing the
wire to prevent further chafing, inspect the wire for damage and replace it if damage is found that is outside of acceptable limits. Please contact your
Peterbilt dealer to schedule an appointment for these services. To find your Peterbilt dealer, please visit the Dealer Locator at www.Peterbilt.com or scan the
QR code. When contacting your Peterbilt dealer, reference the Safety Recall number, Transport Canada number, and VIN(s) listed in this letter. This repair
may take up to 2 hours of labor depending on dealer scheduling.

Peterbilt a constaté qu’il est possible qu’une défectuosité reliée à la sécurité des véhicules automobiles soit présente dans certains
camions de modèle 579 MLU des années 2022 et 2023, construits entre le 26/04/2021 et le 29/07/2022, équipés d’un moteur MX-13 de
PACCAR et d’un alternateur PACCAR de 160 ampères. Il est possible que le câble positif de l’alternateur frotte contre la fixation arrière
supérieure du support de ressort avant, côté gauche, si la fixation a été installée avec la tête à l’extérieur du longeron de cadre. Le
frottement de l’isolation du câble positif de l’alternateur peut générer une augmentation du risque d’incendie.
