Issue

Schneider Electric has notified Cummins that a population of ComPact NSX 400-630A and EasyPact CVS 400A-630A Molded Case
Circuit Breakers (MCCB) may contain “a nonconforming component in its mechanism that may result in the circuit breaker not
operating as intended under certain conditions." Cummins is campaigning these generating sets to implement a Product Notice
issued by Schneider Electric.

Verification/Confirmation

Document TSB220144-A Cummins Field Action Campaign #4835: Inspection of ComPact NSX 400A-630A and EasyPact CVS
400A-630A Molded Case Circuit Breakers, from Schneider Electric contains the list of generator set serial numbers potentially
affected by this Field Action Campaign.

Cummins requires that these generator sets be inspected and necessary actions be taken.

To determine if a particular MCCB is impacted, please follow the “Date Code Identification Guidance” below, per the Schneider
notice, PRB-233066.

Comply with local safety procedures and Lock-Out Tag-Out the unit before beginning to inspect the date code. Please refer below
regarding safe electrical working practices from Schneider Electric.

electrical work practices. See NFPA 70E, CSA 2462 or local equivalent

8 This equipment must only be installed and serviced by qualified electrical
personnel.

8 Unless specified otherwise in the maintenance procedures, all operations
(inspection, test and preventive maintenance) must be carried out with the
circult breaker (device and chassis) and the auxiliary circuits de-energised

@ Checks to ensure that the circuit breaker is de-energised must be carried out
on the upstream and downstream terminals

@ Always use a property rated voltage sensing device to confirm power is off
@ install safety barriers and display a danger sign

® During the tests, itis strictly forbidden for anyone to touch the circuit breaker
or the conductors while voltage is applied.

8 Before putting the equipment back into operation, it is mandatory to check
that ail connections are made with the correct tightening torque, the inside of
the cabinet is clean, all devices, doors, and protective covers are in position
and the circuit breaker is off (open position)

Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.

Date Code Identification Guidance
There are 2 options to inspect the date code.

If the breaker is not impacted, place a green OK sticker or blue round dot sticker on the circuit breaker to represent “Inspected and
not impacted.” Reference to “Service Instruction” section for claim filing information for breaker inspection.

Note: The Date Code of the circuit breaker MUST be mentioned in the claim description

Option 1: Inspect date code on side label of the MCCB (For the EasyPact CVS MCCBs, this is the only way to inspect date code)

Check if the date code, starting with “TC”, is within the date code range of table 2. If it is, then it can be confirmed that the breaker is
impacted. Please refer to Service Instructions of TSB. If it is not within the date code range or it does not start with “TC”, then the
breaker is not impacted, place a dot sticker to signify the breaker was inspected. If the date code on the side label is not legible, use
“Option 2” to inspect the date code.

Note: Generator set serial numbers containing “T” in fourth digit (built in Brazil) with EasyPact CVS 400A-630A MCCBs will have the
above-mentioned date code label covered by another top-label. In these cases, for inspection purposes, carefully remove the top-
label that covers the date code label. A heat blower or a small screwdriver can be used to remove the top-label without damaging the
date code label. If it is not possible to remove the top-label or if the date-code label gets damaged, then consider the circuit breaker

to be affected by this campaign. Refer to Figure 5 below.

Option 2: Inspect date code on middle cover

If the date code is hidden by terminal shield, then take off the terminal shield by loosening the 2 screws highlighted in Figure 6.

Check if the date code, starting with “TC”, is within the date code range of table 3. If it is, then it can be confirmed that the breaker is
impacted. Please refer to Service Instructions of this TSB. If it is not within the date code range or it does not start with “TC”, then
the breaker is not impacted, place a dot sticker to signify the breaker was inspected.
