Customer states the check engine lamp is illuminated in the instrument cluster.
Workshop findings:
One or more of the following DTC’s may be stored in the engine control unit J623 (diagnostic address 0001):
• P157600: Right Electro-Hydraulic Engine Mount Solen.val. Short circuit to Ground (GND).
• P157200: Left Electro-Hydraulic Engine Mount Solen.val. Short circuit to Ground (GND).
• P218100: Cooling System Performance, symptom 15332 / 25214.
• P260200: Coolant Pump Control Circuit low.
• P260000: Coolant Pump Control Circuit open.

Technical Background
The wiring harness for the automatic gearbox is chafing on the front left drive shaft.

Production Solution
New gearbox wiring harness with modified routing in production.

Technical Service Bulletin
Check the wiring on the left side of the
gearbox (Figure 1).
If wiring harness damage is found,
repair using wiring harness repair set
VAS 1978 B.
OR
Replace the harness if it is damaged
beyond repair. In this case, attach a
photo of the damage to DOC-IT for
review.

Optimized routing:
Regardless if harness is repaired or
replaced, check the gearbox wiring
harness generation (Figure 2).
Route the harness as described below
depending on harness generation 06S
or 07S.

Wiring harness routing for
generation 06S:
The generation 06S wiring harness
must be routed through the circulation
pump heat shield (the two buttons
determine the position, green arrow,
Figure 3).

Warning: If this is not the
performed, the wiring harness will
make contact with the drive shaft
again.

generation 07S:
Generation 07S has a different shape
and an additional retaining element
(see yellow arrow in Figure 4).
Generation 07S must not be routed
through the circulation pump heat
shield.
